Is anyone actually hiring the ATP-R folks?

I'm one of the "lucky" ones who qualify for the 1000hr ATP. Have the regionals begun hiring guys with the ATP-R below 1500hrs, or will I still have to build time to 1500 regardless?

The reason I'm asking: I'm working on my CPL. If I finish part 141, I'll have about 300hrs and qualify for the 1000hr ATP-R. If I just take a part 61 checkride at 250hrs, I won't qualify for the ATP-R, but I'll spend a lot less money getting my CPL. Will I regret getting my CPL part 61, because it would force me to build time to 1500?

Opinions welcome! Assume I'm broke.

I had a co-worker from my old flight school get hired on at Republic with an ATP-R from UND. I'd suck it up and get the ticket done Part 141 and open up more options for yourself. I'm sitting just under 1100tt after a survey season and I'm having trouble finding people that will hire me. I barely meet some people mins and flight schools don't want to hire me for only 400 hrs.

I just got hired in March, I am an R-ATP guy, although by now I can change it over, but my point is that about 80% of my class was restricted

Yes if you look at all the regionals they're hiring at R-ATP mins. I'm waiting to hit the 1,250TT so I can apply.

The last 2 applications I filled out specifically said unrestricted ATP. Is this what they are referring to?

The point of the reg was so that the airlines could still hire guys with lower times but appease congress and the families who lobbied for the law in the first place.

Go with 141, go interview at 1000 TT, get some multi, and don't be an asshat...you'll get hired. Don't worry you'll be fine.

I know a ton of R-ATP guys who went to Envoy, XJT, and republic. They seem to be scooping up as many of those guys as they can find.

Just want to clarify as I'm a bit confused. I thought the 1000 hour exemption was only if you had an aviation degree.

Or is the 1000 hour exemption for pilots trained under 141 schools?

Correct. Look at the FAA's Institutional Authority PDF online that shows what schools are approved and for what degrees.

Not yet. Hiring doesn't mean anything. Rising wages means it's a pilot's market.

They have risen... since I've been in the game anyways. Not as much as I/we think they should, be there's a marked difference between now and what I saw pre-07, or better yet '01 when I started flight training.
