I really dont see it being to successful in the US. It seems mainline is happy with Boeing and Airbus and already have firm replacements for the older Maddogs. A completely new airplane seems like it would cost entirely too much. How on earth is Bombardier planning to keep this program going with only 177 orders? Some of the orders arent even firm orders. It might work for a place like Porter.

Occasionally, they do have to egress.

We have a former flight test pilot onboard here at JC. I also know one at Gulfstream that could probably shed a little more light on the why's.

My commentary was mostly snark... But I am curious. I don't think the Boeing guys wear helmets on their test acft, and when Bombardier was testing the GLEX, their test guys weren't wearing them.

A crash helmet won't do anything for your eyes that are about to get poked out. (Not seeing visors, though they may be there.)

Sorry to derail the thread, though this is VERY a.net apropos.
