Who else besides Frontier? Airways? I thought it was just F9.

Caesar Group. I hadn't heard of it before then myself. They also mentioned with F9 departure the employee count would go from like 11800 to 6000. Ouch.

Who knew radials were still in use? Just kidding, that smoke is probably from them burning off the preservative in the engine fuel system. Funny reactions sometimes from people when you attempt to start an engine after installation for the first time and it doesn't light off, next try it starts with a cloud of smoke. I've only heard of this phenomonon never actually witnessed it.

Phew....you had me worried there for a second. I thought the thing was on fire....again. :D

No fapping to airplane porn. You're gonna lose your medical.

Someone wake me up when someone builds something with straight turbojets, a radar the sole purpose of which is to put you on a COLLISION COURSE, and tip-tanks which contain UNGUIDED NUCLEAR ROCKETS.

Nice!

Although a different aircraft, I have an airline pilot friend that privately owns a P-80.

Similar enough to get a uh "screw yeah" out of me, anyway. One little blender engine stuck in a basic 40s, conservative, straight-wing, overbuilt Murican lead-sled = a generation of badasses trained. There's a great story somewhere about a guy bailing out of a T-33 (basically a P-80, I think) and spending the next 30 minutes going up and down in the middle of God's Fury (aka a level 5). I think it was in an old Flying "there I was" column, back before Flying was a bunch of ads you weirdly have to pay for. Anyone know where to find that?

Here you go. Minus the be a pilot in 30 days ads.

Hmm, well either I got the aircraft rather extremely wrong, or there are two or more similar stories. I seem to recall that in the one I was thinking about, the guy in question was some E-level who had a death in the family or something and was being brought home, but I may be conflating different stories. In any case, that does seem to convey the substance of what I remember. Yikes! Uh, and also: AWESOME. In the literal sense of the word.

Hey awesome, another airplane that looks pretty much like every other airplane. I'd sure like to...uh. I'd sure. What was I talking about? Gosh, I'm getting pretty tired.

At least it is not made by Boeing or Airbus, can you imagine a world with only those two making airplanes. I wish Dornier was still in the run with their 728.

Meh. IMHO, "Big Airplanes" stopped being interesting about the time Lockheed got out of the business and the Russkies started making airplanes with dihedral.

@Fencer

Why did you people start making airplanes with dihedral, anyway? All those droopy wings were, well, charming.

In my mind, the Bear remains the most Awesome Aircraft Evar. All That Is Man! I'm only a Communist on the Internet, I promise.
