Exaggerating sales forcast is their job. Boeing wasn't spending billions on development for a narrow body. They rehashed the 737 again. They are going to have a problem selling that MAX now that Airbus grabbed the C Series. Now they have no choice but to spend billions on R&D so odds are something new from Boeing will show up sometime this century.

Forecasting is predicting future sales not physically manipulating them to trick investors. I don't think that is against the rules. I believe that's what Max was referring to.
 
For what's it's worth, per the Wall Street Journal, Ed Bastian was on record this morning saying that they still have a good business relationship with Boeing and would still order Boeing aircraft going forward.

"Mr. Bastian said the trade spat between Boeing BA -0.05% and Bombardier won’t keep Delta from buying Boeing planes in the future. “We have a great relationship with Boeing,” he said at a media briefing at Delta headquarters. Delta is the second-largest Boeing operator in the world, he said. But it is “hard to see how Boeing is being harmed” by the CSeries, a new small jetliner of 100 to 150 seats, because Boeing has no plane in that category."

As with anything, I'm sure the truth lies somewhere in the middle. I do stand by the statement that these guys are sharp and will do whatever is best for Delta shareholders, employees, and customers in the future - even if that means buyin Boeing airplanes.

I'm sure Delta will keep buying the 777 LR until they see how the A350 compares but I don't believe they will be making any massive orders. When they decided to cancel their 787 orders in favor of the A350 that said a lot about their relationship with Boeing.

777 LR? Delta slept on the most popular and profitable version. The 777-300ER.

United would disagree.

DL actually did want 300's. But they just didn't want to pay retail for them. In fact with the glut of so many 200 & 300's coming off lease, it actually kind of depressed the market. They actually tried to play the used market against BA, when it came to price, like any smart company would. BA offered them a sweetheart deal on 787 planes later down the line. And current gen 773's, before the line closed and the 777X line started to spool up. DL said no, to the deal and paying retail and bought shiny new A350's, for either the same price, or more.

Both pax and more importantly cargo makes the 773 an extremely profitable plane to operate.

Cargo volume has increased substantially but revenue remains flat. Prices are falling as a lot of capacity has hit the market. It’s no longer a huge money maker and makes up a small % of revenue at the passenger carriers.

I almost annulled my marriage when I found out they put ketchup and mayo on pizza in Turkey. Also my wife had never heard of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and found it to be gross. (She knows both, just never heard of them being used together)
