House votes today on 1500hr rule WITH college loophole

Exactly...I have a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and I guarantee you that I have better problem solving skills and developed more character than someone with a clown "Professional Aeronautics" degree from ERAU.

Your "more character" is really shining through with this post. Wow!

Now, hold on. What I'm not saying is that the engineer is "better" in any way shape or form, just the same way that a person with a "flying airplanes" degree should not be deemed "better" as the congressman from DAB seems to think.

I'd just like to think that no matter anyones background (except possibly the military) that nobody has a lesser threshold as far minimums are concerned. Weather it be an Av degree, non-av degree, or a GED and a pilot mill. Everyone has a unique set of circumstances that gives them a reason for the path that they took, and frankly none are better than any other.

For the record, I also have a engineering degree, I think its crap that I would need 1500 hours (which I fully support) and if I didn't have the engineering degree, I might need as little as 250 hours.

I'm about half finished with my Professional Aeronautics degree from ERAU.

It's coming along nicely.

While you were off overpaying for flight time and getting your B.S. in engineering, I was places like South Korea, the mountains of eastern Washingon State, and Iraq... plucking people off mountaintops and doing CPR while my patient bled out whatever that was left onto the stretcher..

Still sure about who has better problem solving skills and 'character'?

A post like yours is a good indicator of why so many people laugh at the overinflated egos of so many graduates of the 'Harvard of the Skies'.

Get over yourself, man, or be relegated to the super market's aisle two with all the other feminine hygiene products.

Well I guess it's my turn to apologize. I realize that what I said was pretty ill mannered and that I seemed quite full of myself. I am in favor of the 1500 hour rule, but not any loophole. The point I was trying so poorly to make is that if there is to be a loophole, it should be extended to any college major, not only aviation ones because we all worked hard in school and it bothers me that the ERAU guy might get special treatment over anyone elses degree. As for the "more character" quip...well, apparantly mine is still in its infancy. Again, I sincerely apologize for my attitude.

This 1500 hour thing is the last nail on the coffin, I'm speaking with a USMC officer recruiter next week about getting a flight slot.

Sorry but I don't want to instruct for piss poor wages (and uncertainty) for the next 3 years to land a $20k/year job.

+1
