Probably no legal rest required for the crew and it's just something the company allows them to do if the seats aren't sold. SABRE has a Z-Blovk feature that allows seats to be designated as last sold/filled.

Japan does up to 10 hours of flight time unaugmented.

not sure how comfortable that mattress is but i think id take that over our 737 rest seats. at least they have a curtain and a place to actually sleep.
