Hot/ready reserve

Our midwest (ORD/MSP/MCI) short back redeyes might be an exception. Land at around 2 am west coast time, catch a normal night of sleep, fly home next evening, back to employee lot around 24 hrs after leaving it and paid for 2 days credit/pay guarantee. If you have to fly redeyes, those are the king's redeyes.
The late MSP gets in at about 2200 west coast/0000 local time. Don’t really think that counts as a redeye

From SEA? I admittedly haven't flown any of these or redeyes in general for a good year or so (thanks 3rd step and then PBS), but that sounds even better

Current junior schedule bane of my existence is needing to just accept super early showtimes to get the trips/days off/credit efficiency I want. Hello 0300-0330 wakeups to reliably make a 06XX show. Anything earlier and I'll eat a night and get a commuter hotel, but I kinda hate that now, in spite of how great of a Bennie it can be (though it is much more limited now than it used to be). Only way at the moment to get enough high credit 3-4 days (early bird gets the worm) in a row and also get awarded 10-14 days off at end of bid period, to join 10-14 days off on start of next bid period.

Three am wakeup for the commute would be horrible if you were going back and fourth each day but if it's 3 days a month it's not so bad. I used to drive from Chelan to SEA and back to catch a flight to work twice a month. More than twice a month would have been too much.

SEA is our only direct to MSP in the off season. We do 2 layovers this time of year, 13ish by the airport and 18ish downtown. I keep a close eye on it because all my and most of mrs family are there. Sept and Nov I struck gold and got MSP layovers, no luck so far since. There’s usually 5-10 of them in the SFO bid packet.

I have no sympathy for you on schedule, I got scheduled for a trip every weekend in Feb. which is fine, but i ain’t commuting 2 legs that many times. After blowing it all up and a week of sniping the trade board I’m down to a 5 day block, a 6 day block, and a trip at the end that carries into March.

Don't worry, I'm not really bitching. That being said, I don't actually ask for weekends off, and tend to do most of my trips over weekends or at least touching them. I actually prefer being home during the week. Allows me more flexibility with other work commitments, and can sometimes pick the kids up from school/etc. But I am certainly not complaining to you. I know the SFO situation for you right now, coupled with no movement, probably sucks balls

Man, you guys wouldn't like working at UPS much...haha. The no hotel rooms available upon arrival was definitely nasty. They would usually give you a free breakfast coupon, though, and all pilots like free stuff.
