It comes from China, that’s why. It comes from China.

Not wanting to use a webcam is different than just having an expectation of privacy. If you're on the clock, I don't think an expectation of privacy is realistic.

That said, I don't know how much of a need there will be for work from home. Articles I've been reading suggest that the decrease in traffic will be permanent. People don't want to get on an airplane because of Chinavirus. Travel restrictions and quarantine requirements make air travel impractical. Zoom meetings are demonstrating that there is no need.
One article I read stated that the market value of the top 6 airlines combined is now less than the value of Zoom.
All that to say; with airlines reducing their ops center staff by one-third, there will be much more room for those remaining to spread out.
If a major airline is your goal, you may want to start reconsidering your career plans. If you work for one that's offering buy-outs, you may want to seriously consider taking it. It may be the last thing you get from them.
No economy can stay shut down or severely restricted indefinitely. If by years end or early next year there is no vaccine or treatment, the world will simply have to live with the virus and get on with life.
That being said, the future of airlines will depend like you said on how Zoom effects business travel. The question is will airlines all look like Spirit and Ryanair to cater to the leisure market or will there still be demand for business travel and how much? It is still too early to tell just how much business will be done via Zoom once virus restrictions are lifted. Vacations will not go away so there will always be a leisure market.
I am optimistic that at least a decent portion of business travel will come back once we have a workable vaccine. This is simply because when you are selling anything, it's a lot easier to convince someone/some corporation to sign a contract when you can spend time in person. A lot of business happens on the golf course, in restaurants, etc. and Zoom can only allow so much. The bigger the sale the more this becomes true. I have a family member who traveled extensively before COVID for business, now travels none, and fully expects to resume travel mostly as before once it becomes safe to do so. The biggest question that affects future of airlines is how effective any vaccine will be. If the vaccination is no more effective than say a flu shot, and you still face a risk of getting the virus, I get a lot more pessimistic about our industry.
If the vaccine doesn't work or isn't effective, we will just have to learn to live the virus. The world won't be able to hide from it forever.

Multiple politicians have adopted the philosophy that one Covid death is one too many. Fauci has said that we can’t go back to anything resembling normal until Covid is completely eradicated (so like never?). And I’m afraid the vast majority go along with those ideas. The media is not going to ease up on the panic porn any time soon which adds immensely to the hysteria and group think. Bottom line is if there is never a vaccine we will NOT just learn to live with it. It’s crazy but we won’t. Continuing on with destroying the framework of society even after the mortality rate dropped from 5% to 0.26% has proven that.If the vaccine doesn't work or isn't effective, we will just have to learn to live the virus. You could be right, I thought the same as you in the beginning. But my outlook changed once the mortality rate came way down and governments are still deciding to double down on their original toilet paper hysteria type response. Once it became clear that we CFIT the global economy and went off horribly flawed data we decided to shut down again rather than reevaluate our response and think logically with more accurate data. At this point I expect everyone to shift their focus to the flu and other diseases if and when covid is taken care of and remain in a state of panic forever.Fauci said yesterday that the virus would never be completely eradicated. So vaccine or not, we will need to learn to live with it. Government money is still flowing but once the government gravy train runs out and corporations are almost out of cash, people are about to starve or revolt over lack of jobs and money, the tune of those in power will change.

Well, for one, the goal posts continue to move. From flatten the curve, to slow the spread, to stop the spread, to perhaps eventually shut everything down until we have a vaccine. That has been my primary fear from the beginning. FUD leading to more panic and economic woe. If we think the current amount of social unrest is bad now...Does anyone else see a problem here?
We'd rather see the total deaths number... It's more dramatic. Kinda like how they show us total confirmed cases instead of ACTIVE cases, which is around half the number of total confirmed. People can and do recover from this. That being said, if we wear masks and wash our hands it'll go a long way towards us forgetting about this year.
I am reminding people from where the hammer (and sickle) that destroyed lives and livelihoods fell.
I was not being political or racist. I was hearing scorn on a tyrannical dictatorship that was more concerned with saving face than participating in the world community; a practice I shall continue to follow.
Do you call your car Japancar? Do you call your cell phone Chinaphone?
I don’t think anyone needs a reminder where the virus came from.
MERS? West Nile Virus? Spanish flu (granted that is not the geographically correct name)?
We can agree on Wuhan, since that's what ALL of the media originally called it.No, I was referring to home dispatching never got that far outside of Skywest.
