Hiring tracking (opposite of furlough tracking)

Seems a strange way to calculate pay. It's a rare airline pilot that credits only guarantee. Our average pilot credits over 1100 hours per year.

Just a way to level the playing field since everyone's contract isdifferent. Compare on base pay only. Got to try and make an apples/apples comparison.

I have nothing against AirTran (except for that pesky "no rehire" policy.) ;-)

Last year, I made about 15 hours over guarantee = NOT GOOD. Between union work and a bunch of reserve months I simply couldn't rack up the credits.

That and Pinnacle Corp has a hatred of soft money. Looking at some of our lines, the credit is sometimes LESS than the block thanks to trip values and the 15 minute rule.

Of the majors/legacies, who do you think will hire next?

In the interest of narrowing the list let's only consider those airlines with maximum Captain pay in excess of $150,000 per year. According to the Pro Pilot salary survey that would include:

  • Alaska
  • American
  • Continental
  • FedEx
  • Southwest
  • United
  • UPS
Does not include overrides, overtime, special credits, per diem, etc.

  1. Notable exceptions due to max pay below $150,000: AirTran, JetBlue, US Airways
  2. Delta excluded due to current hiring status

I would say all of them...pilot shortage!!!:sarcasm:

Seriously though from this list, I would say Southwest or FedEx

Ouch...in May I did 33 block and 122 credit

June was 100 block and upwards of 140 credit

Aroo?

You guys don't get block or better? Wth?

Nope. It's all off of "trip values," which are the average lengths of a city pair. So, in the winter, it could be blocked at 1:35, but you only credit 1:25. Then, if you have to de-ice, you don't even start getting paid again until you hit 1:40 thanks to the "15 minute rule" which says, well, we don't start getting paid extra until leg value + 15 minutes. So, in the above case if you flew 1:41, you'd credit 1:26. And people will still trip over each other to come here.....

I felt dirty even filling out the app, but I applied to Compass a couple months back and received a phone call yesterday to interview. I declined due to an upcoming class date with another carrier, but they seem to be rather active.

FWIW.

That, and do you REALLY wanna work for Uncle Hulas? :)

They needed to run three of them about 3 months ago.

That seems to be the case with almost every airline at this point. I think all the bean counters are scared to give the thumbs up for hiring anywhere. That, or no one really wants to be the first one.

AWAC minimums are 800/100 according to their website. That's down quite a bit from the 1500 they wanted not too long ago.

As of today (9/18) I count nine airlines hiring... ASA, Colgan, Skywest, Commutair, American Eagle, Delta, Air Wisconsin, Pinnacle, Cape Air. Thats a decent size crack in the wall. :D
