"if Airline Captains are putting their kids through it then I do not see the problem especially when they are flying in the regionals and majors now"
Trust me. Some airline captains don't have a clue. If an airline capt thought Gulfstream was a good idea (I've met a few), you sit them down and run the scenario by them where a guy pays 50K for a F/O job in a Boeing at his airline. The guy only can work there for six months since he's only building experience and needs to be shown the door to make room for the next guy. The airline will ONLY hire and staff F/O's from this program, since it's a revenue enhancer. Some see the Gulfstream scheme in a different light when you look at it that way.
Justifying a bad decision to go to Gulfstream because "airline pilots send there kids there" doesn't wash with me. There is a segment of airline capts who have an "I got mine, so screw you at the bottom" attitude. If you were making 260K a year and in the top fourth of the list at UPS, it's easy to have that sort of attitude. You'd think "screw what's right, screw what's noble, screw what's industry standand, MY kid's gonna get an airline job off the bat without having to work his way up like I did". This airline capt is more interested in his kids career than in raising the bar in this industry. It's sad, but I've seen it happen.
Of course, it's my opinion that the whole act of working your way up the produces a competent crewmember under our system here in the good old USA. It's not broke, so don't fix it. Some will say DE just wants everyone to go through the pain he went through to get to the left seat of a 767. Ummm....yeah, I guess I do. The system builds inner strength, resolve, and character. Everyone should pay their dues, not buy them.
"the airlines don't seem to care how you got there"
The airlines may not but some people sitting on interview boards do. Don't believe me? Do a search for Gulfstream Academy here, at APC, or at Flightinfo, and see how popular it is. Yeah, Gulfstreamers do get hired at a few places, no doubt about it. Fact remains, PFJ is extremely unpopular amongst the airline pilot masses for good reason.
"Can't argue with the facts..."
HAHA. Your coming here on your second post trying to convince us were all wrong about Gulfstream. Nice try. Good luck with that.
I think you're trying to get a rise out of us with a less than serious post. Flamebait? Trolling?
Really, this site is about advice. You can take it or leave it. Either way, it doesn't matter to me. People here laugh at Gulfstreamers for a reason. Just don't say I didn't warn you.
