Gulfstream Academy's Shrinking Classes

All I know, like the gangsta said, if you are flying and building real time and experience and not wasting your time otherwise what is the difference? We're flying and living the dream. And everyone sweats blood and tears in these programs. What makes you think its different? You still paid for your ratings. The F/O program at GTA is like getting your MBA in Business. Same concept. You got it to help you advance your career. Again if Airline Captains are putting their kids through it then I do not see the problem especially when they are flying in the regionals and majors now. I know what I want and just like the business world I am working my way up the ladder and if you are in my way then step aside because the airlines don't seem to care how you got there. As long as you pass their interview and training you are in and right now having Part 121 and Turbine Time expereince seems the way to go. Can't argue with the facts...

Hi BP... a small suggestion for you, but first, welcome to JC.

Why not put a post in Member Announcements introducing yourself, giving your background, current place in life, and your goals? It would lend credibility to your posts and would be step one in becoming a part of this great aviation community. Welcome aboard!

:insane: Whatever you need to believe. Thanks for the laugh though!!

Complex and I were going a different route with BP... but okay;

There are a few possibilities for this new poster - two of the most obvious are:

1) He's a troll, or...
2) He simply doesn't understand, and needs education.

If 2 is correct, bringing him into JC to educate would help him out.

If 1 is correct, no big loss. He'll be dealt with eventually.

"if Airline Captains are putting their kids through it then I do not see the problem especially when they are flying in the regionals and majors now"

Trust me. Some airline captains don't have a clue. If an airline capt thought Gulfstream was a good idea (I've met a few), you sit them down and run the scenario by them where a guy pays 50K for a F/O job in a Boeing at his airline. The guy only can work there for six months since he's only building experience and needs to be shown the door to make room for the next guy. The airline will ONLY hire and staff F/O's from this program, since it's a revenue enhancer. Some see the Gulfstream scheme in a different light when you look at it that way.

Justifying a bad decision to go to Gulfstream because "airline pilots send there kids there" doesn't wash with me. There is a segment of airline capts who have an "I got mine, so screw you at the bottom" attitude. If you were making 260K a year and in the top fourth of the list at UPS, it's easy to have that sort of attitude. You'd think "screw what's right, screw what's noble, screw what's industry standand, MY kid's gonna get an airline job off the bat without having to work his way up like I did". This airline capt is more interested in his kids career than in raising the bar in this industry. It's sad, but I've seen it happen.

Of course, it's my opinion that the whole act of working your way up the produces a competent crewmember under our system here in the good old USA. It's not broke, so don't fix it. Some will say DE just wants everyone to go through the pain he went through to get to the left seat of a 767. Ummm....yeah, I guess I do. The system builds inner strength, resolve, and character. Everyone should pay their dues, not buy them.

"the airlines don't seem to care how you got there"

The airlines may not but some people sitting on interview boards do. Don't believe me? Do a search for Gulfstream Academy here, at APC, or at Flightinfo, and see how popular it is. Yeah, Gulfstreamers do get hired at a few places, no doubt about it. Fact remains, PFJ is extremely unpopular amongst the airline pilot masses for good reason.

"Can't argue with the facts..."

HAHA. Your coming here on your second post trying to convince us were all wrong about Gulfstream. Nice try. Good luck with that.

I think you're trying to get a rise out of us with a less than serious post. Flamebait? Trolling?

Really, this site is about advice. You can take it or leave it. Either way, it doesn't matter to me. People here laugh at Gulfstreamers for a reason. Just don't say I didn't warn you.

The sky is blue. That's a fact. . .or is it?

Your position/comparison to the F/O program at GTA and achieving an MBA is disjointed. In layperson's terms, it doesn't make sense.

Please clarify.

The F/O program at GTA is like getting your MBA in Business.

As a professional pilot, I beg to differ.

Have a look-see at the "Hot Topics" portion of the website for clarification.

Besides their program is like being a virgin, hiring a prostitute and later declaring yourself to be a "ladies man".

Or taking a fistfull of cash to a strip club and declaring, "Dude, see? Chicks just DIG me!"

Yo Doug you know I live across the street from like two strip clubs right? Come on down, bring Kristie with you!

"Trust me. Some airline captains don't have a clue"

I see you've met some Captains. And I guess you've flown for GA too right? And leave the Gangsta alone. He is a good guy. But you are right this is for advice and everyone has their own opinion. I and others have ours and you and the others have yours. And as I stated before it does not matter what route you took, and you know this as well, if you pass the interview and get through their training, you will get hired. But having Part 121 experience and some kind of Turbine Time gives you an edge. And those are the facts. By the way it's Cuban Coffee ala Cafe con Leche con mucho azucar... Just the way I like the girls in the clubs.

As far as testimonails go, there are 4 listed in the website from "airline Captains".

3 are at Continental, 1 from AA.

All 3 (Turnbough, Cady and Swanson) from CO scabbed.

Ottosen is a Eastern scab too.

Not much of a testimonial if you ask me.

All the more reason to stay the hell away from there.

And leave the Gangsta alone. He is a good guy. But you are right this is for advice and everyone has their own opinion.

So I'm sure that he's trolling, but...

Would it not be the funniest thing in the world if he actually knew the guy in Kingairer's avatar and really thought it was him?
