gojet airlines

obviously, your not reading here. I HAVE TO WORK. I am unwilling to lose a days pay to fly somewhere. Wake up. They have the ability to interview me at anytime, but chose not to. Fine. I wouldnt live in ST George UT anyways. I am happy where im at.

Funny, your post I quoted from never said anything about "having to work". Frankly, they can change the schedule, but at this point they want the best applicant. An interviewer wants to know that the person they hire wants to work there. Saying there is no chance you can get one day off from a job that you could be punted from soon isn't a good indication. Especially when they will already have a pool of qualified applicants.

Besides which is worse, one day off work for an interview or possibly no job in a couple months which would mean ore than one day off?

What it seems like in the end is excuses not to work for Skywest. If you don't want to work there, just say so and be done with it. No need to complain about their interview process.

Right now is not a time to be picky

That's coming off kind of rude stickks. In the mind of an interviewer, you demonstrate your level of commitment to the job when you're saying "I'd like to be employed here but I won't take a single day away from I place I'm ultimately not going to be employed at to sit down and interview with you". In your opinion, how should an interviewer who will hire roughly 3% of the total applicant pool act? And, if you don't want to live in SGU, why apply anyway? SKW is a decent place to be in with right now. You wake up.

No, I dont think so. Get off your high horse, buddy. I am committed to my current job, and I will not take a day off to go interview somewhere else.

Hey, just because we have different opinions on here doesn't mean we're not trying to help each other out. You created another thread last week entitled "Nervous, not feeling great". Passing up opportunities isn't going to help that much, but you already knew that.
From 3 days ago:
so I heard. I might have a interview with skw. What should i expect on a interview with them? I really like working and living in Phoenix, but I have to be proactive just in case, you know?

I have been through the same situation you are facing. There are many other people on here that have as well. I agree with your logic, and I wish you luck staying at a job you like. However, I think I am done trying to help you out.

Aw, c'mon guys, name-calling? What website is this?

stickks.... you have to weigh the good with the bad... I personally would turn down any company that wouldn't be at least SLIGHTLY flexible with interview dates. Heck, "RegionalCo" gave me about a months worth of dates to choose from. They also flew me out for the interview. Any employer worth their salt and who would be at least 1/2-way decent to work for should do those things.

That being said.... if you really need a backup job and they're the only company who'll interview, I'd go ahead and try to get the day off.

Finally... I'm not quite familiar with interviewing without the intention of working somewhere *unless I get laid off. If Skywest, et. al., offer you a class date, and you're gainfully employed, I'd assume you'll turn it down. What if, two weeks later you get your walking papers in a furlough. That is a potential lost opportunity then, because you can't rightly go back and say.... "hey, just kidding, howabout that class date???"

As far as dispatch goes, GoJet is on par with most other regional out there. Starting pay around $14-15/hr. Work rules for dispatchers are about the same as everywhere else. The big beef was between all the pilots but supposedly everyone is getting along now for the most part (I know people at both places). Former dispatchers from GoJet have gone on to bigger airlines or to work for the FAA.

Jeeze, the pay hasnt changed in 3 years.

I was one of the initial GJ dispatchers, set up the training program and maintained SABRE - who went to the Feds?

Ok, so despite all the blogs on this board, what is it like to work there? I have a interview up there tuesday. What is the interview like? Is there a test?

Are the GJ Dispatchers currently working under a contract? If so, maybe there's a hope for a slight bump in pay over the horizon (or maybe not). I did a very brief search but I couldn't find anything on them.

Not sure how all this moving is going to affect the dispatchers. If F9 loses some due to moving ops to IND, not sure if they will fill from in house or off the street. Very possible that somewhere in the Republic Holdings household that dispatchers will be needed.

Not a chance, as there is a snowballs chance in hell of Unkle Hulie allowing another union on the property. They fired the #1 seniority dispatcher at TSA for some trumped up charge for, talking to a union several years back.

If it was either Unkle Hulie, or bussing tables at a Denny's, I'd rather be doing sidework at a Denny's.

Great people to work with, but management can all go screw a goat...

Wait...

From the sounds of it this guy should go work at GoJet...

Yeah ok. Hope you can make it a better place.

Are they furloughing dispatchers as well? I know the number of people being let go is huge (not just pilots).
