Geoprefs for Pubnat 8

I guess I would pick either OH and GA
or OH and CO
or OH and TX
or OH and ?????

But I either want ZOB or CLE

srm.....you definitely want ZOB...i have a few friends and family members there and thats definitely a good choice...

So far I can't make up my mind between terminal and Enroute. I am leaning toward terminal though.

Airport is convenient and all but at this point I would just about take anything.

well then how come when I review my application, there's a little heading that says "Geographic Preferences" and had me choose locations?

The FAA uses the same app for all jobs and in most situations those 10 choices are considered but not in the ATC process. You will get a geo-pref email in a few months. If you read the app instructions carefully it tells you to select througout the nation on the initial app.

I don't see why the initial application can't be used as part of the evaluation, in the sense they can't read and follow basic directions.

Just a heads up. FL is one of the hardest states to get into according to a manager I talked to. Everyone wants to come here and very few get chosen. If that is the only place you're willing to go then so be it, but if you want the job, take what you can live with. FL & GA are the most desired locations according to the manager I talked to.

Good luck guys!

I live in Georgia and thought about choosing GA as one of my preferences, however I am hearing how hard it is to get, so I may choose two other states. I'd rather have an offer than not. Anybody know of any states with GOOD odds of getting picked up? Good luck to all!

This application is not like the others....

You had to chose Enroute/Terminal or Both. Take it for what it's worth. Theres a good chance we'll get a GEO pref email, however, according to an ATM (again, for what it's worth) they'll start reviewing the application with your preferences on it...

AK and WA

I really HATE that the FAA partially bases hiring decisions on what you pick for Geo Prefs. I would seriously go anywhere as long as its out of Southern California. Heck I would even stay here if it meant they would hire me. Oh well...

I'll be picking GA and FL. I dont know about FL, but GA needs ATCs badly. I work at KPDK, not far from KATL, and I can assure you that Hartsfield needs people. But I'm trying to get Orlando for personal reasons...

The primary reason they do it based on preferences is because someone that asks to work in a particular state has a better shot at staying at whatever facility they're assigned than someone that just says, "I want the job; send me anywhere!" If you ended up in Guam because you said you'd go anywhere, and you really wanted BNA, you'd put in for a transfer as soon as you could -- and then Guam would end up short a person.

Yeah, but from the rumor mill on the other threads, ATL isn't taking OTS or new hires and is only taking transfers due to washouts. I don't know the whole truth on it, but I wouldn't count on being picked up for them anymore.
