Furlough tracking

Omni just announced furloughs this morning. I'm 83 numbers off the bottom of 274 pilots (does not include FEs) and we're parking 3 aircraft, so I think I should be okay. Still don't have any numbers, though. This career just sucks ass. This would make furlough #2 for me if I get chopped.

That blows. 2012 has been pretty sucky so far.

I know 2 guys who recently went there from Comair. This industry is sick. Epic Fail!

There are 46 announced displacements off the -10, and I'm not yet sure how many vacancies exist on the 767/777 to keep people off the street. I'm definitely safe, but there are some great people and friends hitting the street more than likely.

I love flying airplanes, but I've already been nabbed by one furlough, and am witnessing yet another. I'm just not sure how much longer I can sustain this career choice sometimes. I don't mean to take anything away from those who are hitting the street with this "woe is me" post, by the way. I just think I might be looking at alternatives.

Damn. A good friend of mine just got hired there earlier this year on the -10. I'm guessing that he'll be on the chopping block since he's so new there. That sucks. :(

It sucks that this thread Is getting bigger again. I thought it would stop updating and the other would grow.

:( And in more bad news, my good friend at Evergreen told me f-word. Apparently it's the annual Evergreen Christmas time reorginization.

Well, some good news on the Omni front. No furloughs, except for a few PFEs who didn't hold pilot certificates (and thus, couldn't upgrade to FO). Sucks to see people lose their jobs, but they'd known the DC-10 was being phased out for a long while.

All street CAs hired within the last year and a half were downgraded, as well.

I want to be clear that I'm not celebrating the downgrade of some of my colleagues. The street captain issue has been a source of heartburn for a lot of us (I'd been senior to about 1/4 of the captains on my fleet), but I never like to see good people take pay cuts and lose stripes.

Thirty-three pilots from Rockford, Ill.-based Ryan International Airlines returned to work on Monday after being illegally furloughed less than two weeks earlier because of a company cash shortfall. The furloughees—almost a quarter of the active pilots on RYN’s seniority list, including two-thirds of the MEC officers—got their jobs back thanks to a quickly drafted letter of agreement, which was ratified by 96 percent of the pilot group in less than 36 hours.
These members of the Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l, were furloughed, along with more than 125 flight attendants and other employees, on Feb. 1. The furloughs were made out of seniority order and without warning in violation of the pilots’ contract. But by Feb. 10 negotiators had completed the LOA, and after a short but successful communications blitz to educate pilots of the details, it was approved the next day, Feb. 11.
The furlough LOA will reduce work days and minimum guarantees for one bid period and postpone a planned pilot pay increase for several months to help Ryan conserve cash until its military charter flying picks up as expected this summer. In addition to bringing the 33 pilots back to work, the group also negotiated a new long-call reserve provision, one of the MEC’s goals in its current Section 6 negotiations with management.

Glad to hear they're back at work! Military work has really slowed down for a lot of us.
