Allegiant vs Spirit is a no contest with Spirit winning. Worked at both but won't set foot on an Allegiant plane due to maintenance.

Ya, not sure you're going to convince anyone here of those things.Understandable and I agree things were very ugly but to be fair the place has been/is completely changing. 20-25% growth has been reduced to 5% with aircraft deliveries increasing to park the 80's. 47 MD80's are on schedule to be reduced/replaced to 12 by 2018. The maintenance culture, training and staffing levels are unrecognizable from just a year ago, for the better.
Worst case for me is I leave to go to one of these European LCC's with a base in the US.
To be fair the 80's are not the problem. The lack of maintenance of them is, Delta and American fly them without near the problems Allegiant does.

Le BOOS can get quite quirky when you don't respect cycle limits, MTBF's and aren't pampered.
Absolutely true, I know for a fact the airbus is having issues. I will give them this you can't force the Airbus into going if so much is wrong like you can the 80. So while they are still having issues the Airbus has made it so there are not so many emergency issues.
After so much neglect for so long, it's only natural to have skepticism. It's going to take longer to convince everyone that there has indeed been a cultural change in their maintenance and training practices. You guys are missing the point, the maintenance just isn't the same anymore. There has been a complete shift in attitude, ethics, quality, training, etc from where things used to be.
You're probably right. LH already started Eurowings. IAG/BA announced that they will start a ULCC from Spain to the US. AF/KLM are also considering cheap longhaul flights. I'm waiting for the announcements from Ryanair, Easyjet and WIZZ. Interesting times ahead....I'd like to hear some opinions on a subject that I've heard brought up quite a bit regarding the future of our profession and the future of airlines in the US...
...... but I say that NAI is the first of many. And the real threat hasn't even began to be seen..
I'd say more quirky then the MD's....Le BOOS can get quite quirky when you don't respect cycle limits, MTBF's and aren't pampered.
Pretty sure an an MD you can fix about anything with aero-kroil, 400 mph tape, and a 5 lb hammer right @bustinminimums ?I'd say more quirky then the MD's....
O.K, that's the easiest explanationPretty sure an an MD you can fix about anything with aero-kroil, 400 mph tape, and a 5 lb hammer right @bustinminimums ?
And nipex pliers. Very easy airplane to understand systems wise and my favorite to work on. Its got JT8's on it, what is not to like. The aircraft gets a bad rap because of operators that do not take care of them properly. Case in point, when Alaska 261 went down and they issued the AD on the jackscrew most of the airplanes that were affected were theirs and hardly anyone else's. Not one aircraft was affected at American ( who had over 350 of them in service at the time) or any of the other big operators at the time. Does the aircraft has it quirks? You bet, but it is a good plane.Pretty sure an an MD you can fix about anything with aero-kroil, 400 mph tape, and a 5 lb hammer right @bustinminimums ?
