FBO service

And you are still against regulation?
Get yourself acquainted with trucking rest rules and then we will discuss the pros and cons of the 70 hour rule which is the specific rule I dislike. Let's also note the the general public are not required to be abide by the same rules.

Having driven over 2 million miles commercially without even a single moving violation, log violation, or accident, I don't feel the need to justify my disdain. You are going to do your damndest though to bust my balls about it, so carry on. (Don't expect a prompt response as I am taking my mandated sleepy time now.) Sweet dreams.

Seek your entertainment elsewhere. Your need to comment on everything I post is a little creepy and the mustache doesn't help.

I'm well rested after 6 hours of sleep, flown over 5,000 hours and have never bent metal or gotten a violation. Still gotta abide by the rules. Your attitude scares me because your disdain for regulation and your belief you know better than others won't work well in this industry. Company tells you to do something not in your contract are you going to stick to what your brothers negotiated or are you going to think for yourself again?

You do understand that the regulations in the airline business are written with blood, do you?

Yet cargo pilots keep burning alive with Lithium Ion batteries in back. This is by far the dumbest thing I've read on here today. It's not written in blood, if it was, this industry would be 100x safer. It's written in lobbying money from UND & Riddle, pressure from airline execs, and once in a blue moon the flying public wises up to the stupidity that is commercial aviation and the FAA throws 'em a bone. Blood however, it is not.

You seem to get butt hurt on here fairly easy dude. Lighten up, it's all in good fun!

As a seasoned lineman, and I have also flown professionally, what are your expectations of an FBO? What level of service to you expect from different sized airports? I ask because I've worked for 3 different FBOs, and it seems like we have always been told we're not making money, coming from class C airports. I guess it's more of what do you expect for your $$$. We have so many SOPs at this point that if somebody wants out of a hanger and somebody wants a bag of ice at the same time, there just isn't physically enough bodies to make it happen, sadly.

I expect all FBO to treat crews courteously and do their best. The more an FBO charges for ramp fees the more I expect out of them. e.g. If you are charging me a significant I expect you to have proper staffing, appropriate ground support equipment, and prompt service It is frustrating when you top $$$ and can't get requests filled because there isn't enough staff, equipment, etc

Nah, it is just the typical Republican mentality.

A person works their ass off for you, but you won't pay them properly.
Hi. I'm a Democrat, in fact I donated over $500 (not a lot to some people but a far bit for me) for Democratic and progressive causes during the 2012 election cycle. I also believe that with the exception of certain service industries where in the pay is artificially lowered than it should be (waitress, waiter, official "tipped employees" where minimum wage averages at around $3-4/hr) that pro-forma tipping is a cancer and should be avoided unless the tippee really goes above and beyond. I happen to know that "van driver" is not an official tipped employee, if they would like to start being tipped then I am sure they would be OK with dropping their pay to $4/hr like waiters?

I'm sorry, but lifting my carry on bag out of a van is by no means worth $1. It takes you barely any effort, and if you're doing it right does not cause any strain and takes like 3 seconds. That isn't to say I didn't tip van drivers -- even when I was a poor turboprop FO, I did in many cases but only because I felt that as regular and mostly captive customers we would be retaliated against if we did not. I would rather not spend 55 minutes of my 8-9 hour reduced rest overnight in "travel local in nature" because the van driver is prissy at us that we didn't tip him at a rate he finds appropriate.

That said, I tip waiters and waitresses very well. They have a job that is infinitely more difficult than driving a van and occasionally handing someone (or dropping) their luggage.

To the OP, that is a strange situation. I'd be very suspicious of an employer who would ask YOU, the customer, to applogize for being honest on a survey that should be about improving the company in question. Obviously I don't know your situation, but I would take that as a big red flag as far as your boss having your back.

I've never pulled up to an FBO in anything more shiney than an Arrow, but I usually get great service. The vast majority of FBOs in CA, KY, and IN have waived all fees for me without buying fuel. Staff are usually very friendly, allow me to help myself to refreshments, and if I arrive late at night, they don't tend to enforce the limits on courtesy car usage. Haven't really run into any rude staff thus far, then again I've never asked for anything airplane related.
