FBO service

As a pilot, what do you expect from a FBO if you call and ask to have your airplane pulled out and fueled.

Wait, your hand was slapped because of your negative review of the FBO?
Yup. Long story short. Base tenant, called to have airplane pulled and fueled on my out to the airport, wouldn't pull it because he didn't have a wing walker, caused a delay getting off the ground. Came back, before we had the airplane shutdown same guy was pounding, not tapping, pound on the windscreen and making gestures for us to get out so we could wing walk as he put the airplane away.

Wow, should have never came back on you. But I have had to deal with problems before a well. called in a fuel order (easy one too: top off) on monday morning for a wednesday morning departure. Show up Wednesday and SURPRISE! no fuel, the plane sat on the ramp the whole time and it was a pretty quiet airport too. No excuse for that when they had a few DAYS to fuel the plane.

Change "fuel order/top off" to "dump lav" and that's what we deal with on a regular basis at our home base.

This is by far not the first time it's happened either. I'm really getting frustrated with having to do everyone's job plus my own.

The place I worked had their proverbial stuff together when it came to service, if I ever run an FBO it will be like that... on the service side anyway. Even so, sometimes things don't go as you'd hope.

Hm, I had my moments working transient line service, but I would always do my best to make things work...short staffed, by myself, sub par equipment, etc. and often working long hours to keep things going. My personal work ethic may have had something to do with it, but I understand both sides of the fence.

....on the wingwalkers, you are seeing that more and more. Not that it is a bad thing, but the balance is a tricky one to play at times. I know where I used to work, well, I knew what I could get away with when it came to those issues. Either way, your story is simply unprofessional attitude demonstrated by the line tech, and of the company. For some of those guys, it is just a job they really don't care about, and it reflects in their personality. Complaints, in all reality really accomplish nothing in the business for the above reason and managements view on that take. A negative review actually holds more weight, because it is visible.

What shocks me overall is that was at your base FBO. Line service is going to deal with some bad moods and egos, but when your shift is over, they are paying the bills.

After working line service for almost 3 years, and now being on the other side of the door, I was surprised at how many places have very poor service. Looking back, the FBO I worked for really had customer service nailed down, and did things right. If someone called something in, we were there.

Just the other day we needed a quick turn, so 15 out we called the FBO, told them to please have the truck running and ready to go because we needed to turn ASAP. Well we land and not only is there no truck, but no line guy to be found. They finally come out and park us, and ask if we wanted the fuel now :confused2:. I never yell or raise my voice because I don't think it accomplishes anything, but I really wanted to for that one.

On the opposite end though, I had a great experience today with an FBO. First time there, the line guy actually introduced himself to us, shook our hands and was there the moment we needed something.
