FAA Announcement AAC-AMH-08-PUBNAT1-08232

Firm offers already?!?!? HA the FAA does not move that fast.... does it?!?! ;) and considering it hasn't even been a month since the announcement closed (2/15) and not everyone who is slated to take the AT-SAT has been contacted, but who knows

The earliest I've seen anyone post about their AT-SAT test date is for March 18th. So no, I don't think anyone has gotten a firm offer yet. But I am noticing (mostly on other threads) that after taking the AT-SAT people are getting interviews pretty quickly.

I think they are trying to bulk up their numbers before the public starts to question the abilities of the FAA to staff the ATC positions, especially after that CBS report talking about the FAA v. NATCA contract "issues" and how it may leave the skies "unprotected". The public loves to freak out and the news broadcasters love to oblige, so let's get ready to ride the hiring wave! :rawk:

I can one up the March 18th date, Zoe... My AT-SAT date is March 13th - this coming Thursday. Are they in fact having a PEPC at ZFW? You have to receive a tentative offer letter before you can attend a PEPC, correct? I can't just take the test and then sign up for a PEPC, can I? I haven't even had the opportunity to provide my geographic preferences yet, let alone receive a TOL.

I heard ZLC ATC's had there vacation scheduled out for the whole year a while ago. If they want a specific day off they didn't schedule for vacation, they have to use a sick day(s). I heard it wasn't hard to do... be sick of the FAA's crap that is. It's funny how more sick days get used in the summer than the winter.

You bid one year in advance for the vacation you hope you get next year. I bid over a year ago on last week. Put down a sizable deposit for a vacation for time that included my days off then the week that I had bid on. My employer decided one week in advance to schedule me for the 58th week in a row of OT on my day off one day before my leave was to start. IE have Thurs/Fri off Then A/L on sat-wed. The grand pooba on the FFA decided to assign me OT of Fri. So I had Thurs off/had to work Fri and could not get a refund for the two days I was supposed to be on vacation.
Sometimes if you bid Two weeks off in a row (a year in advance) they will schedule you OT in the middle of your vacation. IE have five days off (vacation) then have to come back for OT, then another 6 days off. Kind of screws up your plans.

I'm testing in Lisle, Illinois (near Chicago) on April 1st. I called RVA on March 7th to see if I 'missed' an email. The lady who answered the phone looked up my name and said I could take the test between April 1st-28th. I'm not sure if they have even sent emails for this test period yet? Anyone else going to this location in March/April?

Although I've been reading through jetcareers since mid February, this is my first post. Thank you for all your great info!

Welcome metroman3! This board is great, I am so glad I stumbled upon it. I called RVA on the 3rd for testing in Lisle, and they told me it was only going from the 18th to the 31st of March. I wonder why you were given different dates?

Hey all, been following the thread. Thank you all for the updates and info!

I recently got my email for test date from the recent feb open call. Looking forward to scheduling for Holtsville, NY. Anyone else get it today?

That's why I'm wondering if others are testing in Lisle. I suppose they could have two testing periods based on a list we're on. You'll have to let us know what the Wyndham is like.

I just received the email from RVA about testing in Lisle, Ill. I guess I called 'ahead' of the email last Friday. The email does not state a testing date range like others of you have mentioned, just that I need to respond by March 17th. When I called RVA to re-confirm, they said, "you just received the email today?!, tell me what it says..." Once she heard the March 17th deadline, her voice confirmed that everything was normal.

Well folks, I just took the AT-SAT here in OKC. Overall, I think I did "ok". There were definitely some sections I feel I blew out of the water, and others that I could have definitely done better on. I expected the AT scenario to be a breeze, but i did turn a few planes into smoldering shrapnel. They said 3-5 business days, so I'll be checking ASAP early next week to see how I did. I won't go into a lot of detail since the content of the test has pretty well been explained on this and other message boards.

Does anyone have any idea on which sections are weighted the heaviest?

Hi everyone,
I'm new here, but have been reading the forums for a few months now. I recieved my email yesterday March 13th for Lisle, Illinois. They gave me the choice of April 1st-28th at the Wyndham as well...but didn't have any open dates until April 8th. I decided since I'm from Ohio, to make a weekend trip out of it and take it on Friday April 11th. I wish everyone the best of luck...and if anyone happens to test the same date as me...let me know ! :o

I will let you know what the Wyndham testing is like. I am taking it on Tuesday. I am a little nervous about it because I haven't had any time to prepare, with mid-terms and work....

Hi everyone- I am testing Wednesday March 19 in Covina- very excited, and extremely grateful, considering what I have read about the response time from the last PUB posting.

Now, if only I could calm my nerves... I decided to rent a room at the hotel where the test is at- I am driving from San Diego, and didn't want to get up at 4 am to make the drive, hit traffic, risk being late, and then be tired during the test.

I have ATSAT questions but I will post them in that thread.

Good luck to everyone testing soon, and thanks everyone for the very informational posts.

I was also contacted to take the test in Lisle, Il. I am testing on the 15th. I'm flying into O'Hare and staying at the Wyndam the night before. I live in Ohio and was able to get a round trip flight for $96 out of Cleveland.
