FAA Announcement AAC-AMH-08-PUBNAT1-08232

if we finally get through to some of you guys and the supply of willing robots the FAA wants declines, they'll have to get back to the table and actually NEGOTIATE a professional contract.
Of course the only problem is the amount of applicants sweetheart. Now that we know what you think the cause for low wage's and IWR's is...

It seems to me the current controllers are in a no win situation. On one hand as long as there are people lining up to take the job then the likelihood of anything positive happening (negotiated contract, better pay, work rules, etc.) declines. Then on the other hand, many controllers are working 6 days a week, under imposed work rules, etc and want new people to come in, and check out, so they can get back to a little more "normal" work schedule. So, it seems, just a guess, for many of them the only light at the end of the tunnel is to retire and get out of the mess. This, again, causes other controllers to have to work more and more. This causes the controllers to want more to come in....etc. etc. etc. It seems to be a vicious cycle with no end in sight, at least not in the coming years.

Please, please, please correct me if I am wrong with this. I’m not a controller and I do not intend to speak for them. This is just an observation I have made in reading this and other forums.

After the test and such, are you asked where you would liked to be placed - or is that not an option? The Per Diem is what? I guess I might not totally understand that.

If you think that the amount of applicants is the reason for the IWRs and low wages, you are completely in the dark as to how policy works and are probably just an elitist. ( who believes you're the only person capable of doing your job and are uniquely gifted for it).

When it boils down, this situation is all about money and egos. The solution to fixing the problem is through congress. It's the only way. It also has to be a demanding win because a republican president won't just give a win to a union. Unfortunately, controllers and natca have seemed to spend most of their time in front of the radar and less time trying to figure out how to fix this. Congress has to be told (by the public, not a lobbyist) that safety is at risk, and that there needs to be a solution on reauthorization on fund raising immediately, and the only way to reach a fair deal would be to force the FAA to renegotiate with the controllers. FAA management won't do this on their own, and honestly they only answer to Congress and the President.

Time to go grassroots folks if you really want to see something happen.

Re: Krakowski Updates Employees on Issues of Importance

If you don't know who Hank Krakowski is, now is a good time to learn. Here's a memo to FAA employees on March 20th regarding issues, including the NATCA contract and other controller benefits...

I was excited to hear about the repayment of student loans thing, but when I looked into it further, they're only covering federal loans, not private loans. 80% of my loans are private, so it kind of sucks. :(

See if you can consolidate them into a federal loan. Dunno if you can do that or not, but just an idea...

I took the test back in December for the off the street bid for Denver and made the referral list but got rejected! I have now applied for AAC-AMH-08-PUBNAT1-08232 which ended some time in February and was wondering when they get the referral list generated again? Does anyone know? I work at Denver Tracon as a Remote Pilot and really want to work Denver cause I know everything about it but I am willing to go anywhere to get my foot in the door. So if anyone know of dates in different facilitates I would want to know!!! Thank You

Hi all,

I called AvCareers this morning and asked them when the next Central panel would be meeting. She asked what state specifically and I told her Oklahoma. She said Oklahoma would be meeting April 22-25.

I still haven't even provided my geographic preferences yet, but last week they said I'd be given the opportunity in the next 3 weeks (I'm hoping it happens this week). That would give me about a month to get a referral, which shouldn't be a problem.

Imagine if I was hired next month - my timeline would then be: apply in Feb, test in March, hired in April, Academy probably in June-July, and to my facility by September. :)

I just got back from taking the ATSAT over in Daytona this morning. Overall I think I did ok. I don't have any idea how to judge how I did since I have no idea how they weigh the different sections and questions. I must say I probably had the most difficulty with the questions that would pop up in the middle of the Letter Factory portion... "How many orange A's were there?" Hell if I'm supposed to know, I'm just trying to put the little letters in the f-in' boxes...Lol :banghead::banghead::banghead:

Otherwise, I crashed a few planes in the simulator, and overall it was about what I expected, now it's just waiting for the score. For anyone that got 100 (I know a couple of you are out there...) did you crash any planes or can you guesstimate how many, if any, questions you missed?

For my 100, the first few sections were cake, the scan was pretty easy, I think I really ran that well, the letter factory was hard, but I think I answered almost all of the questions right. The AT scenarios were where I think I made 2 mistakes. Short of some funky trajectories, I crashed one plane, and had two operational errors. I'm guessing this isn't weighted very tough, or maybe there's a threshold you have to reach before points are taken.

I do know that the math, angles and analogies were spot on though.

i had much the same experience as Justin. Angles, Math, and Dials were spot on. I did crash a few planes in the AT scenario (flew one over the airport and 2-3 others into the wall that weren't exactly lined up with the gate). Letter factory I did very well although I don't think I got many of the questions right, but I don't really know since they don't provide any type of feedback (i.e. an exploding plane). I think I did alright on the scan, but again, there's really no way to guage since there wasn't much feedback.

My guess is they figure if you are good with math and angles, they can teach you separation and weigh the sections accordingly.

**Do I graduate in 4 weeks with a degree in Meteorology and have been hired (providing I pass the PEPC). I have nearly $20 K in Federal student loans. Does this mean I get help with this??

I have a degree in meteorology too!

If they're like Stafford loans and Perkins loans (there are some others but I don't remember exactly what) they're covered.

Are they covered for any type of degree? My degree is just an associate's in applied science for social work. This just seems like an offer too good to be true, if they are.

**That is awesome man. So all my loans are Federal loans ($21K). This means they could be covered by the FAA?? I really don't even believe that! I'll believe it when I see it. That would be AMAZING though! Where did you go to school? I'm at the University of Utah, and will be working at Salt Lake Center. I finish in 4 weeks, can't wait! Are you currently a controller, or are you going through the whole process right now?
