Low vis taxi lights work really well I have noticed. The lowest I have ever seen is 500RVR in PWM one morning and it was a non event.
In 18,000 + hours of flight time, I've done that about 3 or 4 times. The last time was on the first leg of my initial Captain IOE on the MD-90. It really does work as advertised! Getting to the gate is definitely the hardest part...
