Neither. This kind of flying as in the jetBlue case if usually done by our charter side.
jetblue flying was done by regular line pilots, the trips were just dropped into EWR open time (i think iah got a couple too).

Is this really "growth"? It sort of sounds like it's using planes and pilots that the company already has. That being said, it sounds like Expressjet seems to be doing a good job of finding flying for their equipment and people. I don't know if I totally agree with Bob about the direction of the industry, but it's definately a good thing to be able to find uses for their planes.
Who's to say that Express WANTS long CPA's with companies, what if the plan is to keep the airframes flexible over the next handful of years so that if branded can grow, it does?
These guys have proven they can make money with the company before, and I think they'll continue to do so.
For all we know they're finding every way they can to fund branded so we can come out like gang busters here in a handful of years.
Couldn't tell ya, personally, and I'm not much into business so that's my only guess. I'm still working on trying to figure out how to land this thing right now.
And we've got our CPA for at least another year and a half. Having a two year head start on getting branded going is more than most airlines ever get, which might be what we're positioning for.
Again, conjecture.
Most folks follow the industry much closer than I do... I just keep my focus on my family and my job at hand... that tends to keep me sane. If I put too much thought into this industry... I'm sure I'd start freaking out like all the other new-hires lately.![]()
Good point.
That's it? No counter point? No, "Jesus you're an idiot! Somebody actually lets you fly people around!?!?!"? I was hoping for more than that from you![]()
Did you get a base assignment too?Leaving today for IAH.
Did you get a base assignment too?
I'm IAH for Oct & Nov before I hightail it out to ONT for a decent line! Let me knwo if you get IAH or ONT.

I think your putting to much thought into branded flying.... if you go all branded your in trouble. Im not saying at all that XJT's branded flying is the same as Indy Air or Midway, but the only airplane at Indy/Midway that made money was the A319/737. They both lost millions on the 50 seat jets... this is just my 2 cents, but your branded flying will not come out like gang busters with the 50 seaters
Yup, Express is pretty much doomed.
