ExpressJet to fly for Frontier...

Is this really "growth"? It sort of sounds like it's using planes and pilots that the company already has. That being said, it sounds like Expressjet seems to be doing a good job of finding flying for their equipment and people. I don't know if I totally agree with Bob about the direction of the industry, but it's definately a good thing to be able to find uses for their planes.

Yeah, "growth" probably wasn't the right word. After figuring out that this is another Jetblue scenario (temporary deal) then yeah, not really growth at all. And yeah like you said, ExpressJet didn't necessarily acquire new a/c for the job, so yeah not really any growth. I guess it is cool that Frontier sought out ExpressJet to help fill the void for now.

Who's to say that Express WANTS long CPA's with companies, what if the plan is to keep the airframes flexible over the next handful of years so that if branded can grow, it does?

Or put better, we're not the ones up top and we don't have all the info we do. I hate that argument, but I think it might be worth something here. These guys have proven they can make money with the company before, and I think they'll continue to do so. For all we know they're finding every way they can to fund branded so we can come out like gang busters here in a handful of years.

Couldn't tell ya, personally, and I'm not much into business so that's my only guess. I'm still working on trying to figure out how to land this thing right now.

Express may not "want" long term CPA's, they need long term CPA's. Atleast at this point in the game. Take a hard look into what's been feeding the company through a feeding tube, it's not the DAL agreement or branded but the CAL agreement. This is disclosed in all of the white papers that are following the company financially.

How so? With a long term CPA with CAL. Once our "long term" CPA was downsized, XJT started posting numbers in the red.

For all we know they're finding every way they can to fund branded so we can come out like gang busters here in a handful of years.

Very possible scenario.

Ditto.

I believe in XJT's future and personally believe it's bright. But, I am pro long term CPA. I think it's very foolish to think short term are the way to go since it can take years to boost up a new airline. Just look at jetBlue.

XJT demands nothing more than cash flow right now. Not profit, cash flow. CPA's guarantee this.

And we've got our CPA for at least another year and a half. Having a two year head start on getting branded going is more than most airlines ever get, which might be what we're positioning for.

Again, conjecture.

I was about to say that getting the Delta flying for us wouldn't technically be growth since we're losing the 15 CRJs to Mesaba. Okay, so we'd have a net gain of 1 plane. But, I looked at the Oct bid pack again. We were supposed to start losing the 15 planes in Sept. According to the Oct bid, we've still got the same number of planes as we've had since April. Uh oh. I sense insane amounts of staffing issues come December.

Most folks follow the industry much closer than I do... I just keep my focus on my family and my job at hand... that tends to keep me sane. If I put too much thought into this industry... I'm sure I'd start freaking out like all the other new-hires lately. ;)

:yeahthat:

WELL SAID Bob!

That's it? No counter point? No, "Jesus you're an idiot! Somebody actually lets you fly people around!?!?!"? I was hoping for more than that from you :)

Oh.. sorry.

Dude, two years?!? We'll be dead and gone by then. What the heck is your problem? Do you know anything? Can you read top to bottom, left to right? :)

Thanks :)

You get a date for OE yet? I heard some of MY class still hasn't got the call.

And hey if anybody in your class gets anything out west and wants to base trade, HAVE THEM CALL ME.

If you clowns see me in the crew room say hello. I am the biggest T number around...hard to miss.

I think your putting to much thought into branded flying.... if you go all branded your in trouble. Im not saying at all that XJT's branded flying is the same as Indy Air or Midway, but the only airplane at Indy/Midway that made money was the A319/737. They both lost millions on the 50 seat jets... this is just my 2 cents, but your branded flying will not come out like gang busters with the 50 seaters

Yup, Express is pretty much doomed.

Hmmm ya thats exactly what I ment :banghead:..... this is what you want to hear right?

Express Jet is GREAT.. you guys are going to take over the world, and nothing bad will ever happen!!!

Truthfully? I'm sick of regional pilots bagging on other regional pilots, and I'm constantly hearing about how Express is screwed because of branded. Truth be told, I came here BECAUSE of branded. I pretty much had my pick of what regional I wanted to go to when I left my last company, and Express ended at the top of that list because of the diversification of their flying. Oh and I'm kind of sick of this...

"You can't make money with 50 seaters!"

"You know...your company only fly's 50 seaters too right?"

"Yeah but we're different"

"Are you serious?"
