Expect more holding for EWR

They tried. Turns out there were/are rich people under all the logical routings.
Same for SQL haha "don't you DARE route mostly piston aircraft over rich people".

I mean REALLY I'd imagine vectors, though high workload, are more efficient. Look at ORD and other major airports where you just send it and turn somewhere. I think that's way better (efficiency wise) than say SJC where each departure has to sit a few mins for spacing since every plane takes the same damn RNAV route.

SBA always makes me chuckle. The noise abatement procedure is literally "make a dogleg to final so you fly right over the trailer park."

Haven’t been into APC in IMC for a while but it used to be that if they had the mins for the VOR-A that was what you were doing. Because it was over mud flats and the ILS was over wineries. That and the LOC 27 circle to 18R at MEM in sim-land are about all the circling I do in “jets.”

This isn’t EWR, but JFK.

Through the ego bruising, I couldn’t help but note the ATC instruction to hold short 22R was followed by an admonishing lecture. And the pilots never acknowledged the hold short, and admonished right back. Nothing came of it. But that’s not the point.

Safety first. Argue later. And yes, I’d say take it on the phone instead.

The Aeromexico definitely did not help, but admonishing the pilot on frequency like that is poor form. If you're in delays you just taxi the guy back for resequencing which is very easy to do on the 22s. If you aren't in delays you tell them to hold short and advise. Then make a sarcastic remark to yourself or colleagues off frequency.

I don’t know why some pilots and some ATC think litigating a situation over the frequency, and worse being snark or antagonizing about it, is going to have any positive results? Besides the basic unprofessionalism, it does nothing positive towards ATC control and needlessly jams up the freq.

Didn’t sound to me like he admonished him, just told him next time let him know he needs the full two minutes ahead of time

The FAA et al. Haven’t done a good job disseminating CWT departure/arrival standards. We’re just now getting info on it despite it being out for awhile. It’s lead to some of the heated exchanges on vatsim.

Has pissing matches become more common or is it just everything is being recorded and pushed to the internet for the world to hear? We were in and out out of IAH a lot last month and Spirit got into it with the controller over taxi instructions. I looked at the captain and said “you never have to worry about me wanting to be right that bad”.

For the controllers on here, is there some disconnect between metering and ground control there (IAH)? Just about everyone didn’t monitor ground after switching over and the ground controller wasn’t happy and let everyone who called up before being called know about it. I listened to this happened multiple times during the month.

Theres a disconnect between TMU and everywhere and it doesn’t help that sometimes TMU will ask for something (in trail or lower rate etc) only for command center to over ride it and it’s the front line controllers who have to deal with it. Just a few weeks ago I was CIC (controller in charge, meaning no supervisor on duty) and TMU was putting out a staffing trigger and when they showed it to me the rate was set for 6 positions being open. I was like dude I don’t even have 6 controllers on the shift there’s only going to be 2 positions open all morning.

Both.

But also, fuses are short systemwide and getting shorter, even among people who insist they’ve got great emotional self-regulation.
This!
I was taxing in LGA last month and it was one of those days where a lot of the departure fixes were shutdown. The ground controller was getting overwhelmed because everyone was trying to get an idea of when they would be able to get out. We were given a taxi instruction and complied with it exactly as told. I think the controller thought he told us something different and went off on us. The FO tried to calmly explain that we did exactly what was required but the controller was not having any of it. My FO was about to key up and give it back to him but I put my hand up and told him it’s not necessary or a good idea. I keyed up and said that there was a mixup somewhere and what would he like us to do. There are no winners bickering on frequency.

I honestly don’t know. All I know is we get paid waaaaaay too much money to lose our marbles over taxi ATC kindness vs rudeness.

I’ve always been chill on the radio.
