Etihad Airways Hiring Cadet Pilot (All Nationalities Accepted)

I applied, but more out of curiosity than anything else. There really isn't much that anyone who applied can do at this point. Just wait it out until you're contacted. They've probably received at least a few hundred resumes from around the world.

EDIT: My credentials include a CPL (no CFI), 450 hours total time, twenty hours turbine time and a B.S. in an aviation-related field. I'm guessing that may be too much experience for their purposes, but we'll see how it goes.

No, I don't. All that I can say is just wait and if Etihad never calls, so be it.

I applied too. My home country is beyond the network of Etihad, wonder will I get any chance to be consider? Will I be noticed if I'm disqualified?

i don't think that will be a problem. They will just arrange for u to hop on at the nearest stop near your home country. If i'm not wrong, seems like the selected people will head over to abu dhabi direct this time. I believe previously stage 1 was held in US, Australia etc and u only get to fly down when u clear stage 1.

Besides, can you see yourself living in the Middle East for a long time? I for one would prefer to be employed in my "homeland" before gaining employment elsewhere. I would think long and hard before committing.

I think many people could see themselves living someplace other than their homeland. That's why there is an expats forum.

I'm from Taiwan. I've learned that there are some pilots from Taiwan at Etihad, but they were experienced before joining EY.

Hi there,

I applied as well on the 6th and made it before the closing date on the 7th. And received this email, is this what you received as well? I am from Peru and US Permanent Resident, and 28 years old dob: sept 7th, 84. Hold a Bachelors of Science and have an FAA Private Pilots license and total time of 180hours in single engine Cherokee PA-28 140 based at KCNO in California. Should I even bother to check in due to the age bull crap of 18-26yrs? The application said are you 18-30yrs old.... Kinda weird... Do you happend to have an idea of how long it takes them to get back to the applicant..? What their means of reaching the applicant are? And if not selected do they even notify you? At what point should you figure okay I've been selected or I still have a chance of getting called is basically my question. Thanks for your time and help!

I got the same message.

I read somewhere that one has a better chance of being hired if one has tight connections with someone within the company (read: coming from a wealthy family).

Most cadet programs prefer people with 0 time, they want to put you in their company mindset on day 1, I applied to the Gulf Air cadet program in 2008, I already had a CPL so did other I know who applied, only one person I know of got called he just had started the PPL course.

I reckon you're right. Anybody that has anything over a PPL will be overlooked most likely.
