Envoy TA Voting: The Better Part of Valor

I can be pretty dense, but I'm not naive. Or ignorant.

A lot of emotion has been tossed around in this thread - thinly disguised as genuine concern. You, and many others for that matter, would be best served keeping note of that fact and that people notice.

I am absolutely disgusted by the fact that many here wish to claim victory over others in this very profession because of some amount of self-righteous accomplishment and enjoyment in feeling as if one's place of employment may disappear.

Till the end Envoy and ExpressJet types? Nice try. What I see are folks who are being realist about their current relative place at a company. If that is so difficult for you to understand than I do not know what else to tell you. Besides perhaps, YOU will be just okay.

Your concern about what another member has done to "move on" came following intense discussion about why someone has not taken a lateral move. This in an effort to imply the member has not done "enough."

In the end - ALL of us are attempting to move on. We are ALL doing the same things. No, not all of us will be awarded a type rating scholarship. No, not all of us will be ushered into the HQ's of our most desirable company. But ALL of us are networking. ALL of us are staying current. ALL of us are performing our current jobs to the best of our abilities. ALL of us are studying for interviews. ALL of us are attending job fairs that are practical to attend.

So, yeah - sorry though. Not all of us are ready to throw away years of seniority or longevity when movement is occurring - just not at the pace that someone on the Internet thinks it should move. Not all of us are willing to make family sacrifices just so we an chase after that fourth stripe. Not all of us are going to get awarded that type rating scholarship. Not all of us are going to have opportunities dropped in our laps on a silver plate. Not all of us are single. Not all of us are able to relocate to sit reserve, for less money, as some.

Those of you judging other's for their lack of movement should be disappointed in yourselves. I never once thought I would say that but it is clear to me some members of this forum have forgotten what I believe this forum was created to be - a family. And families help each other - not tear each other down.

To those that made a lateral move and have not been condescending to others - Thank you.

To those that have successfully made it to their career destination without reminding everyone still left in the trenches that they have failed - Thank you.

Everyone else, keep your heads up and do what is best for YOU. YOU are the only decision maker in your life, unless you have a spouse - but you understand what I mean.

I'm here to help.
Sighhh, where to begin? 1.) I have never once claimed victory and do not wish anyone's employment to disappear. 2.) I really don't care what you do and have 0 emotion towards your decision. 3.) I am just trying to contribute and get people thinking/realizing options exist. 4.) I am well aware of the purpose of this site and have helped plenty of people here. Good luck.

You're darn right I did and it should be quite clear as to why. Not a single person has to give justification for his or her career decisions.

Of course no one has to give justification. But when if someone posts complaining about the lack of career advancement or moving backwards at their current regional many on here who have "been there done that" have added that there is ample opportunity out there right now.

It takes a village. Those that have "made it" whether a successful lateral move and/or made it to dream carrier, are not here to gloat or boast. Everyone is trying to help.

Well then, as others have, you should tell these guys about your lateral moves from airline to airline chasing that left seat, succeeding, and making it to Delta.

Maybe it would be recieved better by the pilots you are trying to convince.

Drop the mic.

There is an ass-ton of opportunity out there. Hell, one guy I know literally was in the process of getting laid off to getting a phone call for an unexpected interview.

People need to put down the Facebook and the Xbox then get themselves out there looking for it.

I haven't seen things rolling like this in a long time and by the time people recognize just what's going on right now and have gotten off their lazy butts to position themselves for success (preparation, hitting the prerequisites and APPLYING) the wave may be over.

And then they're back on the internet bitching.

Snap it up, it's there for the taking… today.

I can put down the Facebook. I may even put down the Xbox....but can I still cling to my guns and religion?!?!?
I mean, seriously: I want my COUNTRY BACK!!

In retrospect, I probably should have worn a different suit to my interview...and maybe shaved:

Sorry you got the wrong guy. I'm with Derg at SouthernJets.

Yeah, and like you're telling these guys, you chased that upgrade, upgraded, and moved onto Southern Jets.

There was no upgrade for me to chase when I was at ASA. By the time all these opportunities in the industry popped up, I was already gone.

You sure are comfortable doling out advice for a path you never walked.

Like I said before, I'm backing up others those who have walked that path. Overall. It's a calculated risk taking advantage of opportunities that may advance your career. That's a path I've walked. I didn't sit idly and as some have eloquently tried to say "have opportunity present itself on a silver platter"

"Backing up others" looks different. No one here is saying guys that went to Compass is a bad move. What is being said here or infered here is that guys are lazy or otherwise because they won't. You're simply backing up that crap, and you're not alone. This board has issues.

You don't know what some of these guys are dealing with. I've made lateral moves for the upgrade, and I know how scary it is. I support guys either way, because there are cases where it works, either road you take.

Move on if you can guys, just make sure if you're going to wait you keep saving somehow for if the regional you're at pancakes (but that's no different than any other time).
