Envoy 3 month upgrade

On the latest Envoy vacancy bid, an April 2017 new hire was awarded CA. Some New York CA slots actually went unfilled. No company time requirement for upgrade, in fact the junior CA awarded is still on IOE as an FO. Just need the 1k 121 time as per FARs.

Craziness.

As cool as this may sound, for that new hire it would have to be nerve wracking as hell.
Ya, they'd have to have their 1000 121 SIC/135 jet(or 10pax scheduled) time first. All of which means they pretty much have at least 2200 hours and have seen common carriage. 121.436

Yup I was there for 3 years and never sniffed a line. Now do I go back or sit at my cushy job and wait for my number to be called at the majors once they get around to lower time guys?

I have trouble imagining a world where that happens...I mean I'd love to skip the regionals, but I'm fairly sure it's a shot I'll have to take. I'd be interested to see just how many non prior 121 / military guys the majors are picking up.

my buddy is a senior FO...says reserve CA is ****ing terrible...and with the bonus structure he doesn't lose out on too much money.

he said there is a bunch of senior FO's that will ride it out till they flow in the right seat.

Must have missed the part where I said I all ready spent 3 years at a regional. I agree with you that we won't see the majors ever taking 1200 hour guys.

Citation 10 135 and 91k PIC counts. It's 121 SIC, 91.1053(a)(2)(i) and 135.243(a)(1), any combination of the three. 121.436 is the reg, If you want to read it.
135.243(a)(1)" Of a turbojet airplane, of an airplane having a passenger-seat configuration, excluding each crewmember seat, of 10 seats or more, or of a multiengine airplane in a commuter operation as defined in part 119 of this chapter, unless that person holds an airline transport pilot certificate with appropriate category and class ratings and, if required, an appropriate type rating for that airplane."
It's or. That reg means any of those, not all of them at once.

Since you need 1500 for an ATP, I would suspect not.
