Enrollment Rumors????

Well Hello again friends from DCA. I heard a rumor today and I am wondering whether it is true or not. I heard that this last week DCA had the lowest enrollment they have ever had, and that folks are starting to sweat over there. If it is true, it makes me very hapy to see that young hopefulls are getting smarter, and are not making the mistake I made. I have said it before and will continue to say it. DCA is absolutely unnecessary in the industry today. The system does work, but so does Joe Bobs FBO. Someone from over at DCA please confirm this or correct me. I heard from more than one person though, and I don't doubt it. It is only a matter of time before they completely go under. It is very entertaining to watch. It kind of reminds me of the Titanic.
 
Actually it is not the lowest, we had about 15 new students start this month, which is typical for this time of year. I have been here long enough to know, actually the lowest numbers were around 6-9 mos after 9-11...but I would imagine that was industry wide. We also now have 4 satellite bases, so this will also tend to lower enrollments at the main campus. I would imagine that people given the chance will choose to train as close to home as possible.

So lets say this was the case. Lets even say there were 0 enrollments for the month. You're saying you find entertainment in seeing people that have been a student here and are trying to get by as instructors lose their jobs. These are not people that tried to PFT, or undercut the industry by working FO jobs for free. This is an academy just like any other one except you don't like the management at this one. You think management will feel the burn if the place went under? We would be the ones starving not management. But seriously, to find entertainment in people's struggle, man that's a real classy statement, no really, shows alot of character. Truly the words of a professional.
 
Personally, I think DCA is a good education and am happy that to "graduate" from DCA, you will have 1000 total, 100 multi, and a good bit of time as a CFI.

At the same time, in my opinion, there are a lot more good reasons not to go there than there are to go there. Besides the fact that their marketing is full of BS....

Is this Loren??? I can't imagine that there are two people in this world like him.

Anyways I indeed would find it entertaining, sure a lot of instructors would be out of a job, but forget about yourself for a minute, just because we were stupid and spent 60-100,000 dollars on our education doesn't mean everyone else should. I say we because I am as stupid as you. Think about the students, because they believed in the "Dream" that DCA portrays they will be living on food stamps, medicaid, and hopefully will be able to scrape by without wellfare. That is just sad isn't it. Yes you would be out of a job, but a prospective student also would be able to feed his family like a man is supposed to."By the sweat of his brow." And a student today in the industry can get the same job that a graduate can. Can you refute this? absolutely not, just look at the hiring at all the airlines, and see how many came from DCA. So my point is forget about yourself, think about the student and their future. They don't have to make the same mistakes you and I did.
 
You think it's strange that there is more than one person who thinks it terrible that you revel in others misery? I would hope that there is a lot of us out there. I don't think I was stupid, I was able to see though the marketing and still liked what I saw. I enjoyed my time as a student as well. Plus when I started here the hiring in the industry was in the dumps and this was the only place where people were consistantly being hired. Now the industry has changed and people are hiring off the street with the same numbers we get hired with. I did not know the hiring everywhere would pick up like this but I'm glad it did. Will it stay that way? Probably for a while but if I had a crystal ball I'd be in Vegas right now.

Trust me man, Not thinking of myself here. I'm planning on moving in in a month or two so whatever happens here will probably not affect me. However, it will affect the many students working hard here now or the instructors just getting started. I don't want to see those people have to deal with that. Were you unaware of what they paid flight instructors when you were a student? I knew what they paid and that I would be broke. Maybe you should have done some reasearch and went somewhere else to begin with.

None of that changes the fact that I think anybody who finds pleasure in others struggle is an effing loser.
 
The Enrollment numbers are true, lowest in school history.
I also WILL be initiating a class action lawsuit against Delta Connection Academy with details to follow soon. So everyone who has been screwed by this school,please stay tuned,the dogs are going to have thier day!!

So marketing,go ahead and continue your practice, I, as well as others will be contacting the Florida Attorneys' General Office so get your lies ready.
Just think everyone of us that went to RAA,Falcon,Avion or other places are coming for you.
You dared to challenge us to sue you before we all left,
WE ACCEPT YOUR CHALLENGE!
 
One more thing,To all you DCA instructors worried about if the school closes,The hanwriting is on the wall everyone. Consider this your warning.
We, who have been done in by that school are quite simply out to fold it like a deck of cards.
And please, spare me that just couldn't hack it or other lame excuse you guys give.
If I were you, I be turning in my resume some where,and perhaps wondering if I am going to get subpeonead or not.

I thought the low poster describing how he was enjoying the school after having done his homework about the school, and still accepting the terms, wrote a good piece.

Now I've been scanning these forums and have occasionally participated in some heated discussions for some time. I've seen some posts stoop down to quite a low level, but this has really taken it down to some new lows. It is by far one of the most undignified and childish responses I've ever read.

The idea that you fly airplanes terrifies me. I really hope this is nothing more then pure flame bait.
 
I agree with chrisdahut1. Scary to think that you are actually a pilot.

Well said, Chris. I thought these forums were in place to exchange meaningful information. Not to have flight schools bashing eachother, or in the case of this entire DCA forum, everyone who left the academy degrading it with part truths and no knowledge of how things are actually run, and what expenses the school must deal with.
Interested to see where this string goes, I must say "FO SHIZZLE" makes some good points about people hoping for the worst when it comes to DCA. I thought pilots were a community of professionals that stuck together whether they worked at the same location or not. Guess that has changed...So sad...
