Engine Failure

Many cases and in the case of the OP this is true. Some SE airplanes- such as aerobatic airplanes- go to course pitch in the case of an engine failure. Next time you see an aerobatic airplane with a CS prop on the ramp look close at the prop position.

Interesting. I honestly didn't know that. Is there a specific reasoning behind it?

Do aerobatic planes go through starters more often due to starting in a course pitch?

Think about pitching down in a fixed pitch airplane. What happens to RPM? Goes up. Same in a fixed pitch aerobatic airplane if they do a down line- RPM shoots up so they need to adjust RPM.
If governor fails in constant speed prop on an aerobatic airplane during a down line and it were to go to fine pitch it would probably over speed so quickly the engine would incur damage.
