I mostly disagree with this... think about how many fighter pilots and people with varied backgrounds that there are at ALPA. Should they go and call every unit that a guy ever claims to have been a part of?
He had several recommendations, one of those a DAL FO that he flew one day with.
The DAL FO I know has recently said that "apparently my BS detector wasn't functioning normally that day." He is extremely embarrassed.
The biggest fault lies with the AE MEC and LECs where he was a well known weirdo. Why didn't they nip it in the bud?
All of it passed through them to get to the ALPA rag... why would they question it? They do interviews with mil guys all the time, he was just another airline pilot/guard dude to them. He probably tells it with such enthusiasm and self belief like most compulsive liars that it's hard to tell. He's a mentally ill individual and needs help in a bad way.
The biggest thing is he needs to be is removed from the cockpit and get the counselling he needs. Looking at his facebook page is looking at the page of a sick individual. It looks like in 2006 he was trying to convince others he was a WN pilot. Complete with pictures and the grammar and spelling of a kindergartner.
