What the F&*K? over (as in over & out)

Now I say, in my best aussie accent, "Dubya Tee Eff mate?" From the "End of the World" flash thingy a while ago. "The kangaroos were like "WTF mate?""

I wish I could tip more than I do, but with the training costs I keep a very tight budget, I have no other choice really..... I mean, the bill comes out to about 20 anyway if you are in a large group of college kids, even if you're meal was just a burger and soda.

When I was working in my boring cubicle job, I did have the money and tipped well, it was sort of my way of saying "thank you." Now, I just leave what I can on top of what the bill is, and scamper out of there hoping not to be shot at!

I'm a line guy + private pilot, so I guess I can kind of have both perspectives. As far as tips go, every little bit helps when you've got to pay for your flight time. With that in mind, I probably wouldn't tip people in 100LL trucks b/c I have to pinch pennys myself! It's when people come in on a G5 or Challenger and I have to haul around 3 luggage carts of bags that I expect a little something. My official job is fueler- I don't really have to do luggage. It's just a service that we do to be nice. Kinda like crew cars. I guess my position on the matter would be tip me when I handle your luggage, don't worry about it when I'm fueling your plane.

I also fuel airlines twice a week, so no prospect of tips there. Doug, do you ever fly into LEX? Anyone?

This is my first jetcareers.com post! YEAH!

[/ QUOTE ] If you expect a tip that's about the time you won't be seeing any. You may be deserving of a tip, but if you are giving off that "air" that your deserve a tip, it may be interpreted in an undesirable way.

Welcome to JC !!

Welcome aboard, fuelinpilot!! I'm up in Lexington quite a bit...well, Nicholasville. I spend alot of time out at...ummm...Lucas Field....

Well, my FBO is kind of different than others. We don't have parking, landing, or any other kind of fee. Fuel, fuel storage for airlines, airline service fees, and hangar rent is where our money comes from. So, if they don't buy any fuel and we have to mess with their luggage we're really getting screwed. Meanwhile, I could have fueled 3 airplanes.

That's awesome! Nicholasville is really close to me. Have you seen the glass hangar at the private strip down there? I hear it's awesome. They keep a Challenger, Lear, a Bell 407, and a Bell 206 on that airfield.

Oh, and another response to fly4free. I'd never be that trashy to stand around and wait for a tip. That's not cool. I just get a little frustrated when I've worked hard for someone (for free I might add) and they don't appreciate it. Wouldn't you?

Yup, that's the one! Did they actually let you fly in there? The chief pilot told me that if I ever landed there, I'd never take off again.

Yeah, I've flown into there quite a few times. And I wouldn't suggest that you do it...the security will have you for it!!!

I have, we'll say, "special permission" to land there....

Here's the Challenger....

I know it's hard to get an impression from a message board, but like I said if you give off that "air" about you, (eventhough not your intentions), you will always be short in the tip jar. As for the working for free, Do you not draw a salary? If you don't think you are getting paid what you should, bring that to the attention of your superiors and talk about a raise.
