Delta TA

@Trip7 and @ATN_Pilot thanks for posting the actual language and the communication the MEC put out with it.

I still don't like it.

As we know, Pilot health is a HIGHLY specialized subject matter. There really is only one source of dealing with the the rules and regulations of pilot health from an administrative aspect outside of the FAA and that would be the fine folks at AMAS. They are the fine folks who run ALPA Aeromedical.

So, do you think Delta is going to outsource (BTW, when has outsourcing ever been a good thing in aviation?) the DHS to a bunch of AMEs to determine if a pilot is 'verified' sick? Or do you think they are going to outsource to the lowest bidder. Will these lowest bidders be able to determine that while an office worker can go to work with a broken hand and accomplish their job tasks a pilot may not be able to? What happens if a verification is denied? Where is the appeal process?

I have a feeling this 'sick leave verification' has the potential to be a lot worse than what happened to poor First Officer Barnes...

This would be a huge win if they out sourced it to AMAS.

Sadly I can't see it happening.

AMAS would never do that as well.

I just pointed them out as they are pretty much the only game in town when it comes to an organization that has a clue about pilot health administration outside the FAA. Yes, there are individual AMEs, but as an entire third party organization.

No both options suck. Once again, there are other options. The Delta Pilots have a fantastic ProStandards Committee. Hint, hint, wink, wink.

What you're suggesting would be a massive, unprecedented gain at a time when management has expressed that one of their prime goals in the bargaining cycle is to reduce sick leave abuse. In other words, you're living in the kind of fantasy world that I don't usually expect from you. Don't be blinded by ideology like the APC dolts. You can't achieve it just because you think you deserve it. I agree with your ideology on this issue without question, but it's simply not achievable.

Nothing quite like being lectured on voting yes by a newhire fresh off probation and someone who gave up the airline thing.

When the facts don't work for you, lash out. Predictable.

P.S. I notice that you don't mind the Wookie from a competitor telling you to vote no. Fascinating.

Nope, I don't mind at all. We're "all in" in this profession, it's largely all we've got so we need to vote what we're willing to live with for a very long time.

You do this on every contract, it's your thing telling people to vote yes. Same with Marcus. I called his behavior on this from day 1.

The wookie is being logical while your nose is right up "Puppy's" proverbial rear end. ;)

I don't know how I would vote actually if I was in a Deltoids shoe until I attended a road show and then thought some more. I don't think I EVER said in this thread vote 'no' btw...So good job assuming!

Overall, it isn't that bad of a deal. The pay is fine. The JV Scope stuff is extremely complex so I really have no opinion on that as I don't have a good grasp of that as an outsider. Turns out we have the LCA trip thing in our contract, but if we didn't have it, I could see how that could SUCK. But, as Doug said, what happens at Delta will happen at my place. We have a sick policy currently at our place. I don't want our MEC negotiating a crappier contractual provision with sick policies because Delta 'has it'.

There's nothing at all rational about the Wookie's rhetoric in this thread. It's all blind ideology without regard to the reality of collective bargaining. Marcus, on the other hand, was undecided and went to a roadshow to collect the facts before making his decision. I'd say there's nothing more logical than that.

I've got some time. Maybe I could rap out about 500 words of crap to tell you some stuff. You could add Tier 2+ to that list. You know, make it well rounded and what not. Make it more like a talking heads news show.

Marcus has been saying he's a firm yes since last week. He then will go and say he's not sure but leaning yes only to come back and say he's a firm yes after doing more "research." It's kind of sad. Nothing that wasn't already known was presented at the roadshow anyways...

The internetz keep records of these things, you know this right Trip?

I'm just here for the rap off now.

Was going to say, I just looked back and found his post of definitely voting yes within hours of the language being released......nothing wrong with voting yes, but his decision was made well before a road show
