Delta drivers?

But other times, it may be a topic that we could . . . shed some light on.

Not that an airplane has EVER landed on a closed runway.

Or, in the vein of this conversation, "Not that a Delta jet has ever NOT landed on an OPEN runway." I'm guessing the crew of DAL60 just couldn't differentiate between the taxiway and runway because of a lack of a combination of illuminated aircraft taxi, landing and strobe lights. Must have been so confusing.

I agree with the OP. If you're not required to have the lights on, and it doesn't impact safety or being legal... turn the lights off for the sake of others. I think we all try to be courteous, but 7 pages worth of babbling on the subject is nothing short of retarded.

Not like what? RJ pilots who have it all figured out and think lecturing Delta pilots on a web board is going to solve the worlds problems, and then have the audacity to act surprised when somebody begs to differ? Got it. Good luck with all of that.

Totally relaxed, turn my lights off when not moving, turn them on when moving. Sorry RJ guys, you'll have to find a way to press through it. Perhaps you will have more luck if you start a thread to Delta management about how you want a lights on policy change..........

I wish I had the time for 12,000 more posts, but it just ain't gonna happen.

I think "captain happy" has joined JC.

At least in ATL this has hardly been limited to DAL. As a matter of fact some of the taxiways there have been used as temporary runways complete with ILS's.
FOM says to turn them on while on runways. Airplanes from other airlines ahead of me do the same and it really does not bother me. If you don't turn them on and something does happen one of the questions will be "Did you follow the FOM?"

Oh wow. So I guess it's true. RJ pilots aaare nothing but a bunch of piss poor dipshat pilots. But when they get hired at Daddy D, all of the sudden they're not. Got it.

I'm not so sure I'm the one who needs to put the shovel down anymore.

I guess sometimes the sterotype is accurate. :ooh:

Jeez. Didn't take lng for this thread to degenerate into a train wreck of different pilot groups slamming each other. Given the title I'm not surprised.

It wasn't meant to. That's why I asked if it was written into the FOM. Had it been, that would have been the end of it.
