That could definitely be a limiting factor for sure.

I know it is for me. I save every penny I can. And right now, trying to catch up on my 401k, giving Sallie her monthly cut, phone, insurance, etc., etc., etc., there just isn't much left. Off love to take my kids to Sun'n'Fun. They'd have a ball. But it's not time yet. It will come. Like I said, I'm very patient. I'm still fairly young, and so is my family.
 
Right now unfortunately all the Majors and Legacies are what I like to term "full of themselves" when it comes to pilot hiring. Give it 5-10 years from now and they'll be begging*














*barring Age 67, oil price crisis, and/or more aviation terrorist attacks.
 
Historically this is a less busy and laid back compared to the fall event. Who knows if it will be like that this year.

I think post-IPO I'm going to stick it out and see what happens. Historically speaking with both jetBlue and Spirit, the post-IPO environment was something to behold. Plus, I'm starting to think that while before our worse case scenario was just disappearing altogether, I think now our worse case is a merger/acquisition scenario.

Oh I wasn't suggesting anything specifically to you. Just in general if one is going to go, one might as well try to go now.
 
It's telling that the pass rate for the year (mid-to-junior CAs) is 61% and that 6 FOs passed of 9 candidates.

Disclaimer my information is second hand at best.
Wait...wouldn't that put the FO pass rate at 66%? I'm no statistician but based on the sample size I'd say that it's insignificantly different from the captain pass rate.
 
With a cycle that should be 15 years long, will it really be s cycle anymore?
The boom-and-bust thing has happened three times in my adult lifetime. For you reference, that's about ten years. I can't quite set my date/time to it yet, but it's pretty darned close.

It's happened on the REALLY BIG SCALE twice.

I stopped filling in the American application when it asked if I was an astronaut.

I mean, I'm not sure how you would be able to top multiple miles per second with subsonic darkness and box hauling.
