DCA instructors get a HUGE pay increase!!

Why does DCA need to come up with a "deal" with Comair to proudly announce to the world that it is NOW, the place to spend your money.

I'm not buying it. DCA is a joke, was a joke, and will always be a joke, in spite of the deals they make with Comair.

At least now I know who Tomahawk at APC is.....

Don, I like you, but how can you talk #### about a place that you have never been around?

I can't talk #### about a car I've never driven before because thats what others say.

I'm not saying DCA is good (I would never pay that money that DCA wants at their main campus, with no degree) but you really shouldn't be bad mouthing a school you only know from what you have heard from others.

oh and the cirrus is 119 an hour, and CFIs at remote campuses are 40 (or 35) an hour. also the ground schools are taken care of by the colleges, so you will do like 5 hours of ground total with your CFI which is like 32 bux an hour or something. the 141 part of it is done with the college, and costs like 200 bux

I got my priv with like 50 hours, and learned in a 152. it was 104 an hour with an inst. nowhere here can come near that as far as price went. (not that I have too many options because of my situation)

the CFIs are young, and some are inexperienced, but there are pretty good ones, and even if they aren't your inst, they are always willing to help. I have seen other private pilots from other schools (mainly this one kid I know who is getting it at a part 61 school), and they amaze with their lack of knowledge of things. I'm not putting other pilots down, but it just showed me that my school teaches pretty well.

I had a friend who wanted to come to my school for just his private. I told him that my school is not worth it (I actually listened to you guys) and sent him to a part 61 school.... they paired him with their best CFI who had 2,000 something hours, and is praised at the airpot. this guy is so bad that I have to take my buddy up flying and while I act PIC from right seat, walk him through manuevers and whatnot, its pretty sad, hes pissed that he went to a part 61 school now. probably not usual, but it did happen. he is still struggling to get his license.

man that was long. I didn't proof read, and its 5 am, so cut me some slack pls :D

"Don, I like you, but how can you talk #### about a place that you have never been around?"

It's easy. It started the first time I read a DCA ad in Flight Training mag. Full of BS ("Being owned by Delta means everything") Then, I looked at thier website. Full of propaganda ("We guarantee an airline interview")

Posting at JC is simply my opinion based on my experience as a CFI since 1980 and a UPS Capt today. No, I've never been there. Don't really need to. If that concept bothers you, then feel free ignore me.

By the way, be sure not to comment at this site on anything you don't have personal experience with. I'm sure it will cut down your post count. Kind of an unrealistic standard, if you ask me, but whatever floats your boat.

When 9 out of 10 posts over 10 years are negative about Comair academy, it tells you something. If 9 out of 10 people said the car you were thinking about buying was a piece of crap, would that mean anything to you? It would me. Now, I'd still go drive the car, if I was interested, just like I recommend people check out flight schools in person to form their own opinion. By the way, many people who have posted negative opinions, over the years, are people that have had personal experience.

"I told him that my school is not worth it (I actually listened to you guys)"

Feel free to not listen to me, or us, if you've had a bad experience with it. I'm sure listening to the DCA recruiters will make your friend feel better....

Here's a couple facts for you that I know from experience. Didn't even need to visit Florida.

One, a management offical at DCA once tried to sue the guy who runs this website. He now is the owner of the CAPT program.

Two, DCA recently tried to circumvent the industry standard by giving their CFI's a seniority number at Comair. This was quickly shot down by the union, as it should have been.

So, you see, I'm perfectly entitled to form an opinion about the place, being a highly experienced pilot, from behind my laptop, right here looking out my window, without traveling from WA to FL. Whether you choose to give that opinion any credence, as always, is up to you.

The only problem I still have with your post is that when you mention that "9 out of 10" posts about DCA are negative, you are not counting on the fact that most of the people that had a good experience at the Academy do not waste their time on forums like these.

Those that had a bad experience at DCA, either by the Academy's fault or by their own, use sites like these to "offload" and take care of their anger issues.

However if any of the people that had a good experience posts here, he or she is automatically labeled "dca apologist" or "cool-aid drinker".

"good experience at the Academy do not waste their time on forums like these"

Yeah, whatever. If I see 9 out of 10 bad, it's not good. You can make all the simple excuses you want. Some things never change....

Why is posting here a waste of time? I'd think if someone believed in their school and their system, taking the time to give their viewpoint, which is supportive of their school, would be a honor.

If you're right, Planedive, there should be 100 other Planedives posting at JC. Sorta like the ATP forum.

No excuses, but how many times did people try to come here and got bashed because they had good things to say?

Different than ATP, DCA does not need 100 people telling you how good it is. And don't get me started with ATP... I am already contemplating having those 250-300 hour wonders in the right seat in a couple of years...

On another note,

Have a merry X-mas and a great new year!

Sincerely,

Fabio

Buh bye...
