2 from my Skywest days. I usually wasn't feeling too hot when I would board a flight home from Chico, but I miss hopping on a bro and getting there in 30 minutes. Hopefully @ASpilot2be and PenAir bring Chico airline service again.

Onboard the first scheduled commercial jet to Mammoth Lakes. I rode home on this same jet and the flight canceled the next 9 days. Yikes, good thing I didn't stick around. MMH was a nightmare for United the first season. I think the completion rater was under 15%.

They put a lot of restrictions on it in terms of winds and visibility. Not to mention the IAP wasn't exactly helpful at getting you in if there was a cloud layer within a couple thousand feet of the airport. One way RNAV approach. CRJ700 was category C so 3 miles visibility and definitely no circling up there. If the winds favored 27 with any real strength, there were serious performance restrictions to depart that direction.

Oddly enough, with all of the cancellations that airport had, I always had to go there. And of course they tacked it on to the end of a 4 day trip every time. It was cool, but only captains could land there so I had a little envy having to sit on my hands for such a unique and challenging approach.

If we do serve Chico, it will be out of PDX. I don't think we want to touch SFO with a 10 foot pole. Portland seems to be working as a hub. We don't have major delays, and we just got two gates between Alaska and Horizon. So now we can easily feed Alaska.

Sounds a lot like Dutch Harbor in some ways
