The Benjamin Franklin, the largest ship to visit a US Port, visited Seattle this morning. She's 1310ft long, 185,000 deadweight tons and carries 18,000 containers...incredible...

Caught this guy flying in for lunch. Couldn't exactly tell what it was but looked like the T38 replacement?

It's an Alpha Jet. There's a contractor that works with the military to provide dissimilar combat training. They used to come to Tyndall sometimes.

Edit: on closer inspection I'm wrong

So that isn't an Alpha jet? Looked like one to me as well, I know Google has one based at Moffet Field that flies around the SF Bay Area doing testing with NASA.

Alpha jet is twin engines, this one is single engine. I'm starting to think its the SIAI-Marchetti S.211

Went on another long Stearman trip this weekend. Dallas to Sarasota with two days in Mobile chasing the CAF B29 around.

It was 37F when I left Dallas... I was having second thoughts as I had to scrape frost off of my car before leaving to the hangar at 5AM. It was cold enough that the DC mic assembly broke off with the plastic ear cup. Luckily I had a spare with me.

You do this gig for the CAF? Or is that your airplane?
