Trying to make one of the FBO rental 172N's at MDH do a power-off flaps 40 landing. It is about a 45 degree descent angle at 65kts, and almost impossible to come in too high. This was taken by my jumpseating friend on a checkout flight in Carbondale

This was the FBO, not associated with the university at all. This CFI was wearing a stained and torn up t-shirt and sweat pants. :rawk:

Even when we fly next door at SIU, it isnt quite epaulet bad, just a light business casual is all they ask for.

It still feels weird though...

I know the owner. The plane is based out of KFCM. Saw him speak at a conference with Rich Stowell. The guy is/was(??) a corp pilot during the week. Used to be weird seeing this plane shooting straight up in the sky when you'd be off in the practice area.....

He was a really nice guy...headed to fleet week and let me bend his ear for a while. I think he used to fly corporate, sweet plane though. model 11, dont see those often.

I'm meeting with him in the morning, i'll know more then....his plane is sitting in the hangar right now. I just think it is getting high on time, and he may retire that plane for another one.
