I spent a night there in 1980. We took on around 600 gallons of fuel with a hand pump, it took about 6 hours. The below picture was taken on Canton, our next stop after Christmas. I jumped ship in Pago Pago,

My mom and half sister waited in the cold and gusty GRR weather to get a pick of me landing in my hometown. 5 years at the airlines and one of the first photos of the ship I’m actively operating. Felt pretty cool.

You should. Doing a glassy water landing, or drifting towards a beach and pulling it in heel first... Are some of those moments when you pause and think to yourself "That was f-ing amazing! and very few others get to do this."

Absolutely agreed. Loved glassy water work.

Also confined-area takeoffs. Those are those moments when you have to override the lizard brain that is screaming "TAKE OFF IN A STRAIGHT LINE YOU MONSTER!"
