Younkin Airshows and Franklin airshows really do have some amazing acts. He was taught by Bobby Younkin and Jimmy Franklin, before they were lost in their accident.
As far Kent's routine, I've actually helped him set up his airplane before one of his acts. He has a metal plate on each wingtip to keep it safe, but the fabric really is pretty torn on the tip. When making his aileron "fall off" he uses a fake one with a pull line attached to it that he has in the cockpit with him. He then puts bags of flour on each side to make the wing scrapes look more dramatic. He actually puts a "hit it here" line with sharpie on his bag, its pretty funny. The tire that he throws out is just a big rubber tire that will bounce and roll to make it a bit funnier for the crowd to see it bounding down the runway.
His act really is amazing, I dont know how he makes that plane do what it does. It really is a true testament to his flying skill. And yes, I think its one of the most underrated acts in the airshow industry today also.
