BURLINGTON, Vt., Dec. 1, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- CommutAir's first jet aircraft arrived at its Albany maintenance base earlier this week. It will be used for FAA certification and training before being placed into service early next year.

The first aircraft is one of 40 ERJ145 aircraft that CommutAir will operate under a previously announced operating contract with United Airlines. The contract also introduced a Career Path Program (CPP) for CommutAir pilots.

"We are excited to have been given the opportunity to fly jets on behalf of United Express," said Joel T Raymond, Chief Operating Officer. "Aircraft growth and the CPP mean great promotion and career opportunities for crew and staff. We could not be happier," he added.

"The ability to have the airplane in Albany for a couple of months will allow us to complete aircraft familiarization training and methodically establish procedures and plans for the technical management of the aircraft type at our Albany base," said James W Page, Vice President, Maintenance

CommutAir, operating as United Express, is the d/b/a of Champlain Enterprises Inc., an airline holding company founded in the 1980s. Today, CommutAir operates a large fleet of Bombardier Q200/Q300 aircraft with more than 650 weekly flights to 29 airports. CommutAir's 500+ employees are well known in the industry for fostering a family culture and friendly work environment. it's not a personal attack, shoot I went to TSA from Republic for the immediate upgrade and those planes came from XJT.

but is exactly that, a whipsaw...i see it more now that I'm not in the regionals

Are they opening any new bases with the jets or is it still IAD and EWR? That's all I know of.

The 145s are going to IAD intially. The company has mentioned opening a new base at the end of 2016. Chicago and Houston were both mentioned.

Man, I am reeeeaaallllyyy thinking about jumping. 2 year 145 FO, still on reserve for the foreseeable future. But I can hold weekends off on reserve so it could be worse. Houston base would be OK, that's a commute I used to do and is driveable.

Regardless, I'm not seeing anything good at my current shop. I hate to just jump and perpetuate the musical pilots game...

I can tell you that being furloughed is no fun, and that's the only future for you at XJT.

Get out while you can.
