Colgan Beech Guys

I have a few 1900s you can also buy with a US Government EAS Contract, that I know is up for sale as well.

No Saab in BHB.

The Trenton Volunteer FD just built a Nice new station, and wanted to do so at the airport, But the Airport Manager said they could not build it at the airport, and so they built it off site.

That stinks. How will they fix the problem? We don't have a fire station on site eithier but it is located just outside the airport road. 40 second drive if that. I was under the impression you had to have one on site with aircraft carrying over 19 pax, but my chief pilot who attends the airport meetings says the Saab can come in to AUG. But he was also the one who said BHB could take it as well so I guess we'll have to see. I'm thinking more and more it's going to be Big Sky 19 hundos by next fall.

The best way to describe BHB is TEB without a control tower.

Puts hair on your chest in the summer.

We get like that when the rich parents come in to visit their kids at the local summer camps. It's the third weekend in July. 50 jets in a weekend is nuts. It gets so bad, PWM approach has to staff extra controllers with one working exclusively on the AUG clearance frequency.

Yea, you have one weekend of all out craziness. I'll admit "camp week" in AUG beats any weekend in BHB. BUT we are nuts ALL summer long. I can avoid AUG for one weekend, I can't BHB for the whole summer.

BHB and AUG can take A model Saabs that were origionally certified for 30 seats. You cant take a 33 seat B Saab, and take 3 seats out and calll it good. All the airways saabs are 33 seat B models. Colgan could make a subfleet of 30 seat A saabs for RKD, BHB and AUG. If they will who knows?

The part 139 ARFF cutoff is 30 seats

Yeah you guys are always busy. I hear the "Columbia Air Services at BHB" calls in constantly. We do get some busy spurts but nothing like BHB.

You are right, it is 30 seats. The only A model Saabs I can think of are on the United Express side.

Not to be picky, but you're wrong.

We have 1 A model US Airways Express Saab in new colors.

N35SZ (ex Shuttle America)

EDIT: DIDNT READ OTHER POSTS. SORRY.

Correction to the correction to the correction. 95% of the Saabs are 34-seat B-models. The "newer" PX planes are the only ones with a 33 seat configuration. There are two 30-seat A-models, 121CQ and 35SZ that are painted in united and airways colors respectively. The original hang up with the Saabs is that is is actually ceritified to be a 37 seat aircraft although I've never heard/seen one with 37 seats.

LEB has the fire crew roll in when the saab is coming in or out. Don't know much about 139 certs, so I don't know why thay can't do that anywhere else. I also thought the cutoff was 35 seats and not 30; but like I said, I don't really know much of how 139 certification works.

Speaking of the "PX" Saabs, are they going to reregister 362PX? I saw where Colgan had an N-number N258CJ selected/reserved for the same serial number.

I don't know. We have 3 PX Saabs now though. 362, 369, 370. Any others? All US Airways.

Personally the PX's fly better than the older CJ's or MJ's. Just personal opinion though.

How many more Saabs does Pinnacle have? I know they don't plan on expanding on the Saabs, but if we were- it would be nice to know how many we could get for $0.

Little off topic here- but who thinks the HAM standard Saabs look better than the Dowty?

I think you've already got all the ones that aren't fit for spare parts. There were some pink ones here in Memphis (okay, Millington to be exact) that were leased to Mesaba, but we got them back when they filed bankruptcy. I think those are the PX ones at Colgan now. There are two sitting in SGF, and one is already painted Captain America style. It's been there for months, though. If anyone flies that one, make sure to check for bird and rat nests.....

N361PX was reregistered N249CJ(Captain America) and N360PX was reregistered N220MJ(United Express).

Me...

But that is because the SF-340B's that you got from Chicago Express was my first airliner, and they have the Ham Stan props. Man do I miss that airplane... They had an SF-340 simulator at Flight Safety Houston Hobby that I was tempted to power up more times than once. I really wish I had that type rating on my certificate. :(

The Lamoine Vol FD (before Trenton had a vol FD) used to head on over to BHB when Dad flew the Convairs in and out of there. It was asked if the Trenton Vol FD could come over to BHB (in a similar arrangement to the old convairs) but that was shot down. Suposedly there has to be a truck based at the airport. Also from what Seggy has said BHB and RKD now need rescue boats as well, due to the proximity of the ocean.

In the end who knows what is going to happen?

At AUG there is actually a fire truck they keep on the field, though no one seems to know how to use it. But, recently I have noticed the FD has been doing practice calls to time them to see the responce time. I know the airport manager is trying hard to get the Saab 340 in here so we'll see what happens.

I had heard that RKD needed the rescue boat and I guess it makes sense you guys do to. Seems like a pain for relatively small airports.
