Do you even have hair?

I keed! I keed!!
I've been just messing around with my replies in this thread, but in all seriousness folks... It shouldn't matter whether you wear the leather jacket, the blazer, or no jacket at all. What's important is wearing your uniform with pride, and projecting an air of confidence.
Tailoring and ironing your shirt, ironing your pants (carefully), shining your shoes, wearing clean underwear and socks, using deodorant, getting a haircut... All these things are essential to looking professional. If you want your passengers to have confidence in you, a hat or blazer is not going to automatically do that. You need to project your confidence. Look your passengers in the eye when they ask you questions. Don't talk "meekly" to them, but rather clearly and concisely. Tell them the truth. And when you make a decision, don't be wishy-washy about it. Do it, and stand by it... If it was the wrong decision, admit it, and move on.
I've seen a lot of pilots with hats and blazers that do not project self confidence. It only appears they are playing dress up like we did when we were kids. If you want to BE the part, don't just LOOK the part. ACT the part.
