Cirrus SR-20 down.

It really is sad for everything in the past few months, Aviation world has taken a huge hit from GA-Commercial, I dont know why all these accidents in the past few months have happened but its just incredible how much in such a small time.

Yes this story with the sr20 does not sound right.....:confused:

The press rarely get it right:banghead:

CAP has a program that they use to read radar tracks from the FAA. The folks trained to do it, sort out all the other plots and make a best guess as to where the plane went down. Its not an exact science, and can take several hours to plot.

The delay to start the search can be caused by lots of things usually miscommunication between agencies. Something tells me that there will be a little reevaluation of procedures at the Sheriffs Office after this

yes def....

from the '911' call, it seems that Adi did no use the parachute either. because he said the plane spiraled down and fell below the tree lines.... i'm sure he would have mentioned if he saw a parachute.

If you look at the pictures you can see where the parachute is held has been popped

There is a parachute in the pictures. Could it have been deployed under the tree line, so that is would be deployed, but not have been of any use?

This is kind of creepy, sad and unfortunate. The fact that I know some one who died in a plane crash gave me goose bumps.

I can't understand why DCA would have waited so long to report them missing. When I went on my solo cross country, I was one hour late and Fez was calling around looking for me. But I am sure there is much more to the situation than that so I guess we will have to wait and see.

Wow, what terrible news.:( DCA dropped the ball on this one. Do they still make you guys at DCA put where you're going on the dispatch sheet? I remember when I was there that if you were over 30 mins, they would call you over the DCA channel, if there were no responses they ask if any other DCA a/c in in the same area had heard any calls or seen the particular a/c. Final call is to the tower and Orlando Approach to report a missing a/c. It shouldnt have gone over 1 hour from the scheduled end of the block time.

According to My Fox Orlando they just got the 911 tapes from this accident after hearing it well.....
"We heard a small engine plane then the engine went silent ( power off stall? ) then it went spiraling down then down past the tree line and heard an explosion."

Officer went out found nothing, asked other org's and nothing Finally 7 Hours later i think they said DCA Realized that a plane was missing, and you all know the rest.....:(:(

"We heard a small engine plane then the engine went silent ( power off stall? ) then it went spiraling down then down past the tree line and heard an explosion."

Two things you can count on the eyewitness to always say... "The engine sputtered/went dead." and "Then I heard an explosion." :banghead:

Didn't know the student but I've met the flight instructor a couple times. I flew out of the CRG satellite base and he's flown up on several occassions on a x-country & what have you. Sad stuff, extremely nice guy, very professional.

r.i.p. to a fallen DCA pilot

No need for speculation at this point. Two fellow aviators are dead. DCA did not drop the ball. They followed their procedures that have been in place since day 1, like some mentioned above. They reported them missing after their block ended. 3 hour block 130-430. That puts search and rescue at around 530-600pm. They were found at 330am. The sheriffs office got the 911 at 2pm and disregarded it bc they get those calls all the time in the area. Heavily trafficked practice area.

Lets wait and see what is discovered and not make specualtion. We all want to know so that we can learn but lets just honor those who have passed
