Ugh. I am not now, and have never been a morning person. Let me sleep until 8, and I'll be wide awake until two am.

Unfortunately, this world was built by morning people, so unless you want to be a bartender or a musician you have to wake up 3 hours early and be exhausted by mid afternoon.
With a little seniority an airline pilot can bid all the PM trips they want

Come to the dark side

You call getting up at 8 sleeping in? That’s still a morning person in my eyes.

Speaking of realistic, Iin the sims for AAL do they teach you to slow to 210 40 flying miles from the airport as discreetly as possible, especially when flying a 767?
It's just because we're used to it from every time we fly in and out of CLT. But maybe more like 50 miles.

I never really understood why people just slow down without saying anything to ATC. Sure, in a small airport with no other inbound traffic I get it. But not at any busy airports. Tell me if you want to slow and I'll let ATC know.

Traded into a 2 day that started with a DH SFO-SEA. Commuted down and started the trip in SEA. Operated into DFW last night. Scheduled DH back to SEA then operate to LAS and SFO today. DH ran late so got pulled off and they are just DH me back to SFO. If I’m doing my math right including holiday pay it’s like 19:43 of credit for operating 1 leg. Start a 4 day tomorrow.

Sounds like AA is the winner this year with the DFW meltdown!

Hearing stories from my friends of 12+ hours on a jet, divert, waiting 2+ hours for a gate, etc.

Oh and the best part is, the inbound for those legs I was supposed to operate, was late. So it got delayed and we would have had plenty of time to do it.
