Yes. You have to have a Delta boarding pass to access the Delta Sky Club using the Amex Platinum card. A seat request or even a jumpseat request will work though. You cannot bring in a guest either.
Of the two, I think the Chase Reserve has a slight edge. Since it gives 3 points per dollar on travel and food, I'm using it every single day. Plus I can combine those points with my other Chase cards such as the Freedom, so I'm really racking up the points. You get Priority Pass lounge access as well. It's also automatic Gold with Hhonors, SPG, and Marriott, so I get plenty of free breakfasts.
The Amex only gets you 5 points per dollar on airline purchases only and hotels and travel booked through the Amex website. Since I non-rev, I really don't use this card much for purchases. But I do rack up some points when my family wants to travel, since I act as their travel agent. There's the $200 Uber credit as well.
The Platinum will also give you Hilton, SPG and Marriott Gold. For racking up points pair it with the Everyday Preferred AMEX for 1.5X on every day spend. AMEX also runs deals on transfers to airlines. If you plan ahead, there's a potential return of 2.5X airline miles per dollar of every day spend. I don't use the AMEX for hotels as they count as agency bookings and you may not get the status perks. I use the hotel's own credit cards.
