CFIs Needed

what is the daily and weekly schedule like over at KMER? is there any gouge for the written and interview? is there a passing score for the written also?

I interviewed on the 4th and 5th - got the job. See you guys in early June. I will also be teaching a ground school and probably only one student while I earn my MEI out there. Test was long! Thanks for the info and help guys.

Are there Still jobs available out there. Im just about to finish my MEI and looking for a good job, thought about checking it out if there is still positions open

Good news and bad news. Good news is we are looking for another 7 instructors. Bad news is minimums have gone up to 800TT. If you don't have 800TT but do have a lot of dual given, or are close to 800, or have some other notable credentials, you will be given consideration, but most newly minted CFIs probably won't get a call. Congratulations to those who have been hired already, and good luck to those still in the pool.

Yeah, I know, but that is only for instructors we hire from outside Sierra. It looks as if a new crop of Sierra-trained CFIs is just about to join the ranks and they get first shot, leaving few jobs left. Its all about supply and demand. Eventually we will again need more instructors than Sierra is able to produce, so if you wait long enough, we'll once again be hiring lower time CFIs.

Oh...Now it makes more sense. Basically they are saying that they are not hiring from the outside.

Sort of...They are saying someone with 800 hours they will look eaqually as someone who was trainied at Sierra. Sounds kind of arrogant when you look at it that way, but there's something to be said about knowing what you get. Really the only way to be sure they are getting a quality instructor (other than knowing their flying history from hour 1) is to weed out those with less experience.

That being said, call me psychic but I think they will lower those hours very soon. We won't get all 7 from Sierra, we don't have 7 that are certified yet. And when for some strange reason, no 800 hour instructors are to be found, the standard will have to be lowered.

And having said that......I have a suspicion that the actual minimums we will hire someone have not changed, and I have a couple of theories about why we are advertising 800TT but I probably shouldn't share it over the internet.

Bottom line - if you have your CFI, CFII, and MEI and are interrested in a job, email your resume to George Apostopolis aviator747@hotmail.com. You may get a call even if you don't have anywhere near 800TT.

Wow! You have an exact date. That's great! Last we were told we didn't know exactly when China Eastern was comming, just sometime in late June to early July. Looks like you probably know more about it than we do, although we have an instructor meeting this week and will hopefully be brought up to speed. Same story on the Seminoles. Don't know exactly when, late June to early July. Same thing with the King Air. Maybe after the meeting this week we'll have more information to pass along.

I apologize for not seeking you out......but thanks for walking in my resume! I owe you a few beers for sure.
