CFI Jax...

Turns out I have my CSEL with Ernie tomorrow. I'll let you know how it goes. Where are you staying?

Staying at a hotel (extended stay) off on the southside...... I think I saw ya today in and spoke with ya a little bit, you had a two on one with Ernie?

Day 7..... Pretty much one of the "worst" days here so far. Was told to come in at 9am to do my last ride before my "endorsment ride". Well the guy who was suppose to do that flight today was forced to head to Daytona to help out b/c of a lack of CFIs. Needless to say that messed up JAX b/c then two of us Total instructors were unable to fly when we were suppose to. Basically I was at the airport from 9am-6pm. Didnt fly until about 4pm and at that point winds were gusting up to 20kts and wind shear was reported. Flew pretty well but just a lot LOT of down time b/c of a poor communication on when we were suppose to be there and actually fly. Honestly a lot comes down to a shortage of CFI's. ANyways tomorrow is my "endoresment" ride so hopefully that goes well. ANy luck I'll have my MEI on Tuesday/Wednesday. Chad told me probably Wednesday b/c if it were Tuesday he'd have told me by now. So we will wait and see...... :) Keep ya up to date as I find out more information...

Yea there's definitely a shortage of ATP instructors thats why major changes are just being made such as making the RJ program free to instructors to attract more. At my location Im just getting an awesome amount of flight time. I might hit 150 hrs this month.

Well signed off and things are moving. I have yet to hear anything about my ride. I was told expect Wednesday no later then Thursday but we will see. Guys are going down to FLL who are career students. Most will have rides in my Friday. But we shall see what happens......

Day 9??? Anyways went down to DAB to visit a buddy of mine in the ATP location there. Talking to the manager there Peter it looks like he'll be my DE.... I have yet to hear from ATP about this or Chad who signed me off but he said he's in town in Jax Wednesda/Thursday to do rides. And that he thought i'd be one of his. So anyone who knows anything about Peter that'd be great. Other then that the class has had one pass his oral today down in FLL but didnt fly. Two more are going down tomorrow and all will have their initials in by the weeks end. Its exciting times to see what happens. Word as of today is ATP is -13 instructors...... In need of some in a hurry so hopefully I can get done and move on!

ATP needs instructors not only to actually teach but also to man the phones -- I imagine they get a tremendous amount of calls. So it must be frustrating for them to have a room full of CFIs that they can't send out because nobody would be there to answer phones anymore ;)

Only the pit bosses are working the pit. Last class had 8 instructors and Jim needed 12. He standardized everybody. I heard this from my training center manager couple days before the new changes to the job were made.

Well got the call this morning. My checkride will be tomorrow for my MEI. I have a DPE named Peter out of DAB who was formerly out of Craig (jax). Anyways I'm feeling pretty confident and ready for this. I really just look forward to getting these over. I'm awaiting a gouge from my classmate who had Peter today for his MEI. With any luck i'll get a call here in a few to let me know how his went......... I'll post sometime tomorrow..

Well so far....

One down to FLL Passed 1st try....
Second in FLL failed on steep turns (only has to re do those)
One in stuart pass 1st try
One in CRG with Peter failed on Vmc (explaining it), just has to talk about that and he'll has his ticket (was allowed to continue his flight).

So far it looks like our class isnt doing too shabby.... 50% which is right on with what Initials typically do...... The two who "busted" really busted on small things...... So hopefully we will have 6 of 8 with MEIs after tomorrow.... and only two more one of which goes on Friday and will pass.

MEI passed! Started at 830 and was done by oh around 230..... all in all not a bad process..... I'll write more in the member section soon..... However out of my class of 7 for CFI's we have 6/7 MEI's and one test tomorrow. Nearly a 100% of us have our initials.... Not too shabby....

Ps.... I was offered a job as of today as well.... Gladly accepted.... Either July 30th or Aug 6th dependent upon my completion of my CFI's..... Needless to say I'll prolly be in Daytona!

Congrats buddy! I was in Jax yesterday cause I needed to give the chief pilot something. I would've said hi, but I dont know what you look like or your name!! Tell Ernie I said hi

To echo what somebody else told me a few days ago...thanks for letting me know you were in town!!!;):D

Congrats Meyers!!! I'm sure you're on cloud nine right now...time to go to work flying now!

Day again I dunno.... haha 11 i think...... anyways got my sign off for my instrument ride. So tomorrow about noon or there about (darn middle of the day) I should be doing my II with Bob Raskey (should be interesting with him). Then with any luck if that goes well on Monday will be my single engine CFI and then back to Indiana for a few days and back here to Jax Aug 6th for standarization and off to Daytona!

I don't know that DPE but good luck. Get in, get your time, and get out! Congrats dude, rock on! :rawk:

Passed my Double I today..... Member section.... Time to relax one more on Monday for my CFi single.... Shall be interesting....

Well day 13..... Out of my class all 7 of my classmates have completed their MEI's sucessfully..... Only two of which had to go back and re check and one was a steep turn and one was just Vmc Demo (lesson). Both of those rechecks took less then 30 mins each.

Of the 7, 3 of us have completed our CFII's on the 1st chance. There are 4 more who still have to go.

Two of the 7 including myself have our CFI single tomorrow. We will see how that goes..... As of right now my class has done extremely well. From my understanding this is not always true. So when you come to ATP you have to be prepared yourself for what you are getting yourself into and understand you have to study to be profecient. Anyways hope this has helped some of you who are thinking about coming to do the CFI course.... Anyone who has questions feel free to PM or Email me.... I will do my best to answer honestly.

I start August 6th for standarization. From my understanding I am headed to Daytona Beach to instruct. From what I hear it'll be add ons but I do not know that for certain........ I look foward to this journey. Its been extrememly fun and enjoyable thus far and I look foward to what the future holds...
