Calling out another pilot.

Insightful AND Topical! I'll remember this the next time someone announces on the radio that they're transporting abused children and animals with an intent to do further harm, you poncing clown.

Ooohh.. I may have found a new signature line.. It is definitely in the running..

Poncing clown... Beautiful! I was looking for a reply, but couldn't come up with one, so I left it be.. :D

LOL! "poncing" ROFLMAO!

So, what you're saying is that the MYOFB principle you espouse only applies to radio announcements. Just where does your "logic" draw that line?

I do those things regularly. Out of KMKC in fact. I call it the Clipper Misery and I wear a dark, double-breasted suit with a white airline captains hat.

No show-trials for you. No kangaroo court. You will be lined up against the nearest Wall, blindfolded, and thrown in to an RJ's right seat for ETERNITY. It may sound harsh, but we reserve being an Eagle F/O for only the worst scum that humanity has to offer. Just kidding, Gonzo, put down the pitchfork!

How should I characterize that line for someone who at least plays at being incapable of seeing them? It suffices to say, I think, that self-righteousness about things you know little to nothing about is a prison every bit as unpleasant as one with bricks and mortar. It probably carries a worse taint, though.

To me, it underscored the problem of low-time CFIs getting a little big for their britches. Though many would like to think otherwise, a CFI ticket does not make you an expert on anything other than teaching the basics.

We have that A LOT in the vintage aircraft/warbird world as well.

Often times we'll be coming back to our home airport, which is a Class D aircraft - all of the controllers are extremely friendly, etc....

We're coming back in sections (two ships formations) - and we ask for the break (360 overhead pattern). The tower says report the initial, blah blah... we go into a break (somewhat...aggressively), then gear down, flaps down and land.

Well as we're on the ramp... a CFI starts yelling at me for being dangerous, etc in the pattern - he was on the ground during our pattern. He explains how illegal it is for us to do an overhead pattern... so he calls the FSDO from the FBO. We can't wait to hear what the FSDO says.. because some of the guys there fly with us from time to time with the FAST formation cards, etc. All of this is right in front of the CFI's student.

After the FSDO doesn't have a problem with it at all - as an overhead break is a FAST accepted procedure for a pattern entry . He looks like the tool bag he is. Come to find out...he's a CFI with 350 hrs.

He could have saved himself some dignity if he would have just STFU.

Hi Guy. I think you must've missed my question in the WO thread about what your past experiences are. Just wanted to remind you it was there.

(I've also asked you to introduce yourself and share a little about you a few times before and you've always ignored me. Why is that?)

So far, you have established that you express opinions with a degree of vulgarity and that you will resort to name calling in lieu of supporting your statements. But, what is yet to be delineated is how you come up with this "MYOFB" philosophy in a civilized society. That logic is standard in some settings; typically those where crimes run rampant. So just where, if anywhere does this "MYOFB" (unless what that person is doing is going to literally kill you or a loved one) "logic" draw the line?

So how is your second year of community college going?

Your reputation doesn't hold up to IanJ's...I'm just saying...

I think it's more to do with "CYA" as in "Cover Your Ass".

There's really no cover, tarp or canvas involved. Or even anyone's rectum, but it's an expression to convey personal responsibility.

Now if it was "CYMFA", it'd be more like "CYA-Plus" but it doesn't involve maternal influences or copulation.

Heavy amounts of :sarcasm:

What exactly is it you want me to "support"? In my estimation, appealing to some external Authority when confronted with a behavior of which you disapprove is the lowest sort of whining, wheedling, pathetic narcissism. Endemic to self-impressed jackasses who have been told they're "special" rather than to adults who have passed the oral stage and recognize that the world is full of divergent opinions, and that not all Conflicts must be mediated by some faceless entity which will either confirm or deny your complaint and at once rectify any Injustice whilst proving that the squealer was In The Right the whole time. As though things are so simple. If things are so bad that you need to intervene, sack up and put your face to it. That's what Big People do. You might even learn something if you can face the possibility of saying you've got a problem with someone.

Civilized societies exist because the people that constitute them choose to be civilized. This implies communication that isn't dependent on some deified external arbiter. If your idea of "civilization" is "The Law", you'll be left with The Law and without "civilization". That would be fine if the entire world lived inside your head, but it doesn't.

I swear this thread comes up in one or form or another on a bi-weekly basis, if not more often. Usually with the same responses. I give this about a 28% chance of two people getting into it by page 3 or 4, the argument taking up the majority of page 5, and MikeD locking it down by 6.

Aaaaand.... GO!
