Not all O-5s need protection, so to speak...there seems to be more than a few happy to throw anyone under the bus.

i'd say 80% of the O-5s I have interacted with are still bros...

FWIW, the USAF traditionally has had Field Graders pin on 2 years later than the other services -- between 12 and 13 years TOS for O-4. Around 2003 the USAF decided to slide promotion boards to two years earlier than normal (so as to have guys on joint assignments have rank equal to their coworkers from other services), and I ended up pinning on O-4 at 11 years TIS. I pinned on O-5 at just under 16 years TIS -- and I was 38 years old.

AF officers are just taken better care of, with the spa treatment and all... They just age better than the rest of y'all.

I'm curious. Are you saying AF guys/gals are making O-5 with less than "required" time-in-grade (what is it, about 9 1/2 years TIS?). 28 seems really young for an O-5 but, then again, times change.

Just joking around, but I will honestly say that most all of them have looked way younger than our O-5's. Maybe I have just had old looking CO/XO's. I definitely wasn't serious about them actually being 28 :)

What Hacker explained is pretty much in line with average TIS for the Navy side too in all seriousness.

Got it. Thanks. They probable look younger because you are getting older:). What Hacker explained is pretty much the same as when I was in.
