I'm trying to avoid the regionals and stay in AK. I've been doing 135 for a while, but I'm thinking 121 might be a good idea.

Anybody here fly for Rusts? Thought it may happen this year but looks like next year I'm up for a career change. 7600TT 6500TW CFI/CFII AP with IA with lots of ski experience. Interested in the flight seeing type flying.

You'll probably need a SES. I'm not sure rusts has anything on wheels. @KKochan flies for the blue team and they have a wheeled 206 and 'jo iirc.

Rust's does mostly float flying, and not sure what their minimums are. I think they just have one Airvan on wheels they use for bear tours. I fly for Regal and we have 2 206s on wheels. Although either company might train you up in floats if you've got the other experience they want.

With your ski and tw experience you might be better off working out of Talkeetna with K2 (Same company as Rust's) or Talkeetna Air Taxi. Mostly ski flying into the Alaska Range for Denali tours and climbing support. 185s, Beavers and Turbine Otters.

I was thinking K2 when I mentioned Rusts. l'll probably visit Talkeetna in the next year and see if it's something I would be interested in. I realize a lot of these jobs ain't as glamorous as it sounds. Was also wondering if you had to know somebody to get hired or if they are looking for pilots?

Depends on the year and their hiring needs, but a visit in most cases us a huge leg up on getting in with either company in Talkeetna. Usually space for a pilot or two.
